Apple and Bramley cottages are over 200 years old, their original charm and character have not been lost to the installation of modern comfort and style. Full central heating and constant hot water are included in the rental price, there are no meters. The cottages are both self contained but each have an internal heavy door that will open out to make one large cottage should people want to book for up to seven people. Each cottage has its own patio area which backs onto the garden that is laid to lawn with flower beds to the edge. lots of pots with coloured flowers are dotted around the property. There is a separate garden area to the side of apple cottage and a separate additional patio area to the side of Bramley cottage. The views from the cottages are of the wild common with the backdrop of the black mountain. parking for both cottages is immediately outside off road on a track. The Brecon Beacon national park boundary is just over one mile away. Swansea city is 13 miles away.

Apple cottage is the smaller of the two cottages like Bramley it holds its traditional character whilst enjoying the benefits of modern comfort and style. Its open fire is a big attraction during the autumn and winter, it will burn both logs and coal, giving a cosy warm glow to this charming property. Although next to Bramley cottage, Apple cottage is completely self contained with its own patio and open garden area to the back and to the side. The front of the cottage gives a very open view of the wild common and the black mountain. The back of the cottage looks out over the garden and has french doors leading from the kitchen to the patio/garden area.

The cottages are just outside of the villages of Gwaun-cae-Gurwen and Brynaman at the foot of the black mountain. The cottages are just over one mile to the Brecon beacon national park boundary. This is a wonderful national park full of vast open spaces, mountains, rivers, waterfalls, castles and some of the most gorgeous villages and market towns such as Llandeilo, Llangadog and Lllandovery. Wild life and bird life abound making the walkers day truly delightful. There is much to do in the national park such as horse riding, trekking etc. The cottages are within easy driving distance to the beaches of the Gower peninsula and west Wales. The lively city of Swansea is only 13 miles away. More locally we have Indian and Chinese take away. Two 24 hours Tesco are within 5 miles either side of the cottage. There is a local large supermarket at the end of the road. Pubs are within walking distance of about 15 minutes. There is a Childs park at the end of the road.

  • The shower room is downstairs. It is of a very good size and has toilet sink and mira power shower which is oil fuelled giving a strong flow of hot water. hand towels and shower mat are provided. A velux window allows a strong stream of sunlight into the room that is caught by a suspended bawble sending thousands of prisms around the whitewashed stone walls.

  • The bedroom is the only room upstairs and is furnished with double and single bed. These are both ready made up with freshly laundered and ironed linen for each visitor. A pine wardrobe and chest of drawers complete the furniture in that room apart from a small bookcase with books. The view is from the front of the cottage overlooking the common and black mountain. A velux window makes the room very light and sunny.

Notes: Apple and Bramley cottageS provide the ideal getaway all year round, in summer it is cool and the garden and patio area are delightful, in more colder weather the full central heating in addition to the open fire in apple cottage make it a cosy, comfortable and warm retreat. The area is abundant with some of the most magnificent walking opportunities, for those visiting with a pet dog it is heaven, whether in the mountains of the brecon beacons or along the easily accessed coast line of the gower and west wales. Parking is immediately outside of the cottage on a track which is off road this makes packing and unpacking very safe and convenient. There are two 24 hour tesco stores within 5 miles either side of the cottage, there is a more local supermarket at the end of the road. the local public house is approximately 12 mins walk, as is the local rugby club that does not require membership to enjoy a drink in.
