Apple and Bramley cottages are over 200 years old, their original charm and character have not been lost to the installation of modern comfort and style. Full central heating and constant hot water are included in the rental price, there are no meters. The cottages are both self contained but each have an internal heavy door that will open out to make one large cottage should people want to book for up to seven people. Each cottage has its own patio area which backs onto the garden that is laid to lawn with flower beds to the edge. lots of pots with coloured flowers are dotted around the property. There is a separate garden area to the side of apple cottage and a separate additional patio area to the side of Bramley cottage. The views from the cottages are of the wild common with the backdrop of the black mountain. parking for both cottages is immediately outside off road on a track. The Brecon Beacon national park boundary is just over one mile away. Swansea city is 13 miles away.

Situated next to Apple cottage Bramley is the bigger of the two. It has one main double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and toilet and one downstairs spare room with double sofa bed. The main bedroom is has a lovely traditional iron bedstead with modern good quality mattress. The room is furnished with pine chest of drawers and chaise lounge, it has fitted wardrobe. The bathroom has modern bath (no shower) and toilet and sink. Downstairs the front room is furnished with two leather sofas, flat screen television and digital radio. The inglenook is home to a wood burning stove. The spare room has a double very comfortable sofa bed, small portable television, pine chest of drawers and clothes hanger. The kitchen is large and fully fitted and equipped the traditional farm pine table comfortably sits 6 people. There is a washing machine, fridge freezer and microwave. The view from the kitchen is over the back garden. The back door opens onto the furnished patio.

The cottages are just outside of the villages of Gwaun-cae-Gurwen and Brynaman at the foot of the black mountain. The cottages are just over one mile to the Brecon beacon national park boundary. This is a wonderful national park full of vast open spaces, mountains, rivers, waterfalls, castles and some of the most gorgeous villages and market towns such as Llandeilo, Llangadog and Lllandovery. Wild life and bird life abound making the walkers day truly delightful. There is much to do in the national park such as horse riding, trekking etc. The cottages are within easy driving distance to the beaches of the Gower peninsula and west Wales. The lively city of Swansea is only 13 miles away. More locally we have Indian and Chinese take away. Two 24 hours Tesco are within 5 miles either side of the cottage. There is a local large supermarket at the end of the road. Pubs are within walking distance of about 15 minutes. There is a Childs park at the end of the road.

  • Our rental prices are inclusive there are no meters in either cottage. the only additional cost is required is for logs, these are charged at the rate of £4 per basket. coal is not supplied by us but can be purchased for apple cottage fire locally. Bramley cottage burns only logs.
    Dogs are charged at the rate of £10 each per week or £3 per night each (max 2 dogs) with cheque made payable to 'HOPE RESCUE' which is a registered charity for abandoned and mistreated dogs.

  • The bathroom is of a good size, although ensuite to the main double bedroom, it is easy accessed via the stairs without entering the bedroom. Enjoy long hot soapy baths after a day walking in the mountains or along the coastline.

Notes: Although Bramley and Apple cottage are completely self contained, they both have internal heavy wood doors that can be opened up to make one large cottage. This is for people who want to book up to seven people. We do allow dogs but ask that they not allowed on furniture and beds, and that they are not left in the cottage alone at any time. There is a small charge for dogs of £10 per week per dog (maximum two) or £3 per night, this money is to be made payable in a separate cheque made out to 'HOPE RESCUE' which is a registered charity for abandoned and unwanted dogs. Rental prices include all utilities, the only additional charge is for logs if requested. within a five mile radius there are two 24 hour Tesco stores and numerous smaller local supermarkets. Yhe main hospitals are in Swansea including accident and emergency. parking is immediately outside of the cottage off road on a track.
