My husband Steve and I have been coming to Gunnison for the past 21 years. This is home to my husband whom has been coming to Gunnison since he was 4 years old. He remembers the cabins along the river Before Blue Mesa Reservoir was created. We lived in Gunnison full time for 10 years! Now we have a part time home that we would love to share with YOU.
Donna purchased this cottage in 2008

This is a small private cottage on the Gunnison River with some of the best fishing in your backyard. If you like Lake fishing or Boating, our place is only 10 minutes to Blue Mesa Reservoir ! This home is cozy, quiet, yet close to everything the Gunnison Country has to offer.
I have been to Gunnison many times to visit my daughter. This trip was the best one we ever had though. Everything the owners said about the place was accurate and even better than we had hoped for! The cottage was clean and well maintained, not to mention sheets, blankets, plates, glasses, pots and pans. Every time I called the owner re an inquiry, she helped me out instantly. I would recommend this place to everyone! My husband said we will never stay in a hotel again. This cottage is our new vacation home and we loved it!!!!!
My family and I enjoyed our stay here last week while on vacation. The house was perfect for our stay. It was centrally located for all our site seeing that we wanted to do from traveling to Black Canyon National Park to fishing at Spring Creek Reservoir. It was perfect for my family of four. We really enjoyed the nice cool breeze at night and having our coffee in the morning on the deck by the river. My boys loved the deer showing up in the mornings and not running away as they walked out and took pictures. We will definitely keep this place in mind during our next Colorado vacation.
The house was perfect for my husband and me. It was nice listening to the river and seeing occasional rafters go by. It was very clean and cozy. There was always a nice breeze with the windows opened. I would stay there again.
The cottage was perfect for my friend and I for our 6 day stay in the Gunnison area. It was clean and roomy with a lovely river view. There are other houses all around, but the cottage is positioned in a way that you feel like you are secluded. Deer and squirrels were frequently seen from the large patio window. Internet service was good. The beds were pretty comfortable (I slept well the entire time). The kitchen was stocked with nearly anything you might need to prepare a meal. There is no hair dryer, but we usually pack one with us. Other than it is a little tricky locating the road (You pull into the Long Holiday Motel parking area and follow the drive back behind the motel). I definitely would stay here again! It's a great place to use as a home base to visit all the wonderful sites in and around the Gunnison area.
we enjoyed our stay and loved drinking coffee by the river in a.m and going out abit in evening. we liked how it was decorated in western theme. we loved the deer in the front yard twice during our stay.
there were five of us and we would have spent same amount on two motel rooms which did not have the river setting plus we were able to all be together playing games and watching tv in comforable seating . i saved at least 100. a day cooking quick meals . loved the location close to everything . each day hiking and hanging off of dangerous mts. in a van without 4 wheel drive. [still in recovery on that one] we had lots of fun and found the place added to our fun. never would i rent two motel rooms over that . also i looked long and hard for a place with value plus something extra like enjoying a cup of coffee by the river and watching rafters and fishermen wave as they go by .
This property has lots more potential than the experience we just had. It is a basic accommodation that was clean with the exception of the bottom sheet on the bed in the 2nd bedroom, it had not been changed and the sheets on the bed in the Master were Flannel and it was the first week in July. As with many VRBOs you just can not tell things from the website. This unit is attached to the house next door. In itself, not a big issue except that there is some sort of heating issue and the HEAT was pouring out of the floor register the entire time and remember it is JULY. Made attempts to contact the occupants in the attached house but got no response. Waste of energy and it contributed to an all ready too hot unit. Beware there is NO air conditioning, NO ceiling fans and very little cross ventilation from doors and windows. There were two fans, the larger of the two operated but the stand was broken and the other was a very small (12") fan that was in effective. Only a few windows open and with no screen door there was no way to get any cross ventillation. Made for very warm nights especially with the flannel sheets in the Master Bedroom. For the money it is overpriced and for a few hundred dollars more you can have a better place in this area. Positives include how clean it was (with the one exception), plenty of space (except for the bathroom....very small) and the location, on the river but with very close neighbors.
Fish or Raft right out your back door ! Located right on the Gunnison River, near a public Golf Course, Hartman Rocks which has over 4000 miles of trails, close to unique shops and restaurants. You will love staying in this quiet, private cottage on the river. Enjoy the scenic tours, hiking, biking, fishing, 4-wheeling...some of the best fishing around...can be found right out your back door on the historic Gunnison River.
