Vashon Cottage Rental!
Enjoy beautiful sunsets, watch a bald eagle fly by or the otters playing in the water from this peaceful 2 story 1+ Bedroom Cottage, plus 1 bedroom 1bath guest house on the Sandy Beach of Paradise Cove.
Just a ferry boat ride from Seattle or Tacoma Washington to Vashon Island. A 10 minute drive from the Tacoma Ferry and 20 minute drive from West Seattle Ferry to our home. House is less than a 5 minute walk from the parking lot. A very easy and scenic walk that is along a wide and level on a path behind the bulkheads of the homes on the beach.
Great place to visit all year long!
Great recently remodeled open kitchen, dining area, living room, and full bath located on the main floor with incredible scenes from everywhere you sit.
Relax (or sleep) in one of the 2 fabulous twin size window seats. Not only are they great for looking out at the sound, reading a good book, but make great single beds for kids at night (great for watching winter storms and summer sunsets).
Bottom floor includes a Queen size bed and two double loft bed, look out every window to see the sound in front of you and a doorway out onto the lower deck.
Guest romantic cottage is our latest addition with a King size bed and it's own bath, nestled up on the hillside with the scenic sound all around you.
Due to the size of the house, septic and hot water tank we have limited our home to 4 adults max with 2 children. If your party contains more than 4 adults you may want to look for a bigger home.
Look for Cottage Paradise on Facebook for more photo's.
A very romantic get-away!
My husband and I have been coming to Cottage Paradise for over 8 or 9 years, since before owners Rita and Carl remodeled the kitchen and bathroom. We loved it even back then when both rooms were tiny and there was no wireless.
Because i don't like to fly my husband and I travel to many, many cabins and vacation rentals around the Northwest from Washington to Oregon to Montana, and this has always been our favorite place to stay...the one we keep coming back to. (We feel almost possessive of the place!...And actually some of the photos on the site were taken by my husband who was/is a professional photographer. )
And it's not just 180 sunset view, though that is pretty awesome. (In wintertime when you are sitting in one of those window seats that looks out over the Puget Sound, you almost feel like you are outside.) It's also the charm and comfort of the whole place. Even the lighting invites warmth and a cozy feeling.
I've been in many VRBO places and you can tell when the owners love their place and also actually vacation there themselves. Because it makes a difference in how great the kitchen is, how comfortable the bed is (love that it is king sized too!), how soft the towels and linens are, the comfortable sofas and chairs. (How many times i have rented a place where the place looked fabulous but the furniture was so uncomfortable!) I love the eclectic decor, the new roomy bathroom with heated tile floors. All of these things are important to me when on vacation and Cottage Paradise delivers.
To me, this is just as important as the beautiful view. Also i can't say enough about how incredible the owners are. I feel like Rita and i have been friends all of this time that i forget we haven't quite actually met!
I hope that my husband i will be renting Cottage Paradise for years to come even as we get older. I hope Rita and Carl will continue to rent this fabulous place!
My husband and I joined my sister, her husband and some friends of ours for the weekend. The weather was a little stormy which actually made the cottage even cozier than it already is but the sun came out and gave us one of the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see. The neighbors you meet along the pathway are incredibly nice and the beach is really pet friendly. Honestly, staying here has made me and my husband seriously consider buying our own cabin on Vashon, though I don't think I could possible make a place as cozy and charming as this place.
It's hard to say what be liked best - the wonderful location, the beach and the ocean as our front yard maybe, watching the sunset on the upper patio, sleeping in the window seats? Our family of 6 had a great time at this well-equipped, tastefully decorated cottage. Nobody wanted to leave!!! Washer and dryer came in handy and the kitchen has everything you need to prepare big family meals, which we had most of the time - lucky us - outside in the warm evening on one of the patios or on the little float outside the house on the ocean! Also, washing the dishes and watching the kids playing on the beach at the same time does not get any better! You will have the greatest views out of those windows!
Paradise Cove is a bit tucked away from the town center, so you would need to drive 10 minutes by car to get your grocery run in. And yes, you would need a wheel barrow to get all your suitcases, backpacks etc. from the parking lot at the end of the street to the beach house. There is lots to do in and around the house. but Vashon also has bicycle and kanu rentals, there is even a movie theatre and we just saw "Spiderman". Enough shops (book, sport, clothing, restaurants) to satisfy your consumerism. The ferries to Seattle/Tacoma/Kipsap peninsula are within a 15 minute car ride if you truly need to escape the island. Communicating with the landlady was very easy, too. We can highly recommend this rental and will for sure be back for more "cottage paradise".
I stayed here with some girlfriends... This cottage is so charming, cozy, and peaceful. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a romantic getaway, a family holiday, a girls retreat, or a mom-daughter weekend. Vashon Island itself is amazing with great wineries (Vashon Winery and Palouse) for wine tasting before heading back to the cabin for grilling, basking on the deck, or curling up by the fire. The sunsets are amazing and this place has all the amenities you would want. There are views from every window and you'll feel right at home instantly.
My wife and I loved this cottage, it was a beautiful location, incredibly quiet, and you really feel like you are getting away from it all. We loved the window seats, the gorgeous decks and the view, also the detached master suite....the view from your bed is amazing. The cottage was clean and homey, and we would definitely recommend it.
The cottage was impeccably clean, extremely comfortable, well appointed, with EVERYTHING you could possibly need for a fun and relaxing get away! My in laws loved the upper cottage and the beach was so fun and beautiful. We can't wait to return!
Walk the miles of sandy beaches on Paradise Cove, or kayak, hike, read, watch boat traffic, relax,...
It's patchwork of pastoral and natural settings make it a refreshing Northwest getaway. Miles of lightly traveled, pine edged country roads make bicycling and walking popular activities. There is something special and magical about being on an island, the pace is slower, the people friendly, the attitudes relaxed. Whether you are petting a Llama, slowing for deer crossing the road or watching eagles soar, you're sure to love Vashon.
The island is approximately 12 miles long by 8 miles at the widest point. The only way on and off the island is a breathtakingly beautiful ferry boat ride, with views of other islands as well as the Cascade and Olympic Mountains. The auto/passenger ferry boat (bicycles to 18 wheelers) loads from Fauntleroy Ferry dock in West Seattle and takes 15 minutes, it's a 10 minute ferry ride from the Point Defiance Ferry dock in Tacoma, and 10 minutes from the Southworth dock (if you are coming from the Olympic Peninsula) and, a 35 minute crossing by 'passenger only' ferry from downtown Seattle.
Our 'passenger only'' ferry takes you to the waterfront shops, and just a few blocks up the hill you will run into Seattle's famous Pioneer Square or you can walk or jump on one of our (free in the downtown area) buses to the equally famous Pike Place Farmer's Market where you can purchase everything from fish to fresh fruit and veggies to clothes and souvenirs. But don't forget we have our own mini-farmers market right here on Vashon on Saturdays during nice weather.
You can get to and around on the island by public transportation, it is however, preferable to have a car since the buses stop running at about 7pm each evening and do not run at all on Sundays. Also the passenger only ferry is in service Monday thru Saturday only.
Vashon-Maury Island is home to many painters, potters, jewelers, stained glass artists, musicians, writers and organic farmers.
