LADY LACE - COZY CHARMING 17TH CENTURY FLEMISH HOME

Bruges (Brugge) House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps in beds 4; maximum 6

Holiday Rental Home 'Lady Lace' is a beautiful 17th century house located in the heart of Bruges. It is a three level house with a total of 110 square meters living area. The facade is built in the traditional step-gable style that is typical of the finest Flemish Renaissance homes. It is completely renovated, furnished and equipped for your comfort. The interior, with original oak structure, is very cozy. Located in the peaceful Ezelstraat quarter, it is a five minute walk to Market square and the Belfry Tower. This city has a ideal mix of ancient buildings, canals, museums, cobblestone streets and charming little squares.

The name 'Lady Lace' has been elected for the lace makings manufactured by the owner herself in reference to Bruges. You will love this relaxing resort and immediately feel at home.

A 'House Book' in the house contains much information on local shops, restaurants, history and sights.

“We wish you a pleasant stay in a magnificent Bruges!”

About Bruges: A little community was established between the 7th and the 9 th century on the shores of 'Zwin'. The first habitants who sought shelter there called it 'Bryggia'. The town developed around the fortress called 'Burg' (Borough) that the Counts of Flandres had built there. The town soon became an important trade centre, thanks to its communication with the sea. Its ancient architecture brought priceless elements to the European artistic patrimony. In museums, everyone admired the paintings of the Flemish primitives. In the 15th century, a Bruges school of painting developed under the protection of the Dukes of Burgundy which counts many brilliant masters: Jan Van Eyck, Hans Memling, Hugo van der Goes. Lancelot Blondeel and Pieter Pourbus are the most well known artists of the renaissance.Since the end of the Middle-Adges, Bruges lace is world-famous.

The presents of canals in Bruges gives the town a mild character.

Clean, well equipped, great location.

The lady of the home greeted us with a map and a home booklet that covered just about everything you might want to know while traveling in the area. There was a convenience store, internet cafe, grocery and dining just a few steps away. Taxi service was close to the train station which made day trips very pleasurable. Old Bruge was quaint, old world charm with centuries of history at every turn. There truly is something for everyone so wear your comfortable shoes and go!

Perfect Bruges home

Our family of 3 loved our stay at Lady Lace. The location is ideal, the home is immaculate, well-appointed and tastefully-restored. The owners are charming and thoughtful. I can't imagine a better place to enjoy Belgium! Highly recommended.

Charming, characterful property

  • 5 of 5
We received a friendly welcome upon arrival at Lady Lace and were shown around the property. The owner noticed immediately that our daughter was bigger than she had expected and required a bed rather than a cot, so returned that afternoon with gorgeous princess bedding - it really seemed no trouble to her to go out of her way to do this.

The property was well-stocked with all we needed for our short break, including the often missing egg cups! We were also treated to a selection of Belgian chocolates and beer, as well as tea, coffee, hot chocolate, butter and milk.

The property was clean and suited our needs well. Straight off the street into peace and quiet of the lounge area, dining area, kitchen beyond and downstairs utility and toilet at the back, plus a small outdoor courtyard with a little seat that provided natural light at the back of the house. Up some steep wooden steps, with clever use of mirrors, to the two bedrooms and bathroom, then further on up to the attic bedroom with bunk beds (and two toy monkeys our daughter adored!) and a baggage room for storing suitcases.

Downstairs there was also a cellar - with a pre-schooler with us, we simply blocked off entry to this using a nest of tables as the steps were rather steep.

The location was superb - just a short walk into the centre and several routes to get there. Nearby were several places to eat as well as shops and a small supermarket, yet the house was very quiet and restful. Only downside were the squeaky floorboards (but they add to the charm of the property!)

The warmth of the owners added to our experience here and, should we return, we would certainly hope to stay here again, especially at the time of the procession of the holy blood as this really was a special thing to see.

Wonderful, charming, friendly

  • 5 of 5
We arrived at Lady Lace with Marie-Christine waiting with chocolates and cold beer to tell us about things to see and do in Bruges, as well as explain the charming home we rented for four nights. We (3 adults) felt at home, with a full remodeled kitchen, linens, washer and dryer and plenty of space to relax. The bedrooms on the upper level were spacious, with a full bath and a half-bath on the main level. With three bedrooms, there would be space for a family/group of six. The house is still in the original design, with narrow stairs to the upper levels and wood floors in the bedroom reflecting the same old-charm as the rest of the city. We rented bikes to tour the country-side, toured Flanders Fields, visited farmers market, churches, bell tower - and then ate great food, chocolates and enjoyed the beer. We would recommend Lady Lace!

Beautiful, well-equipped and nicely located

  • 4 of 5
We had a lovely time in this home. It's in a perfect place for exploring the charming city of Bruges - far enough away from the centre to avoid the tourist traffic, but close enough that everything is a quick walk. There's a good bit of foot and car traffic on the street, but the windows are well made and the interior noise is minimal.

It's well furnished, with a nicely equipped kitchen, cozy furniture and comfy beds. And it's got everything you need for kids - utensils, toys, cots, etc.

If you're planning to put a baby, young child or just anyone late-rising or with an early bedtime in the back, second-floor bedroom, just be aware that the squeaky floors and sound from the kitchen make it a bit noisy when others are up and moving around. Obviously, that won't be a problem for most people!

A wonderful traditional Flemish House

  • 5 of 5
This is a beautiful Flemish House on a quiet street 2 mins walk from the main attractions. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas, with a lot of thought and care to make our stay very special. We could only stay for 2 of the 3 nights booked and were so upset to leave. The owners could not have been more helpful and we would highly recommend this house for an unforgettable stay in this wonderful city. The only thing I would say is that the stairs are probably not suitable for anyone with disabilities as they are quite steep.
