Bridport lies just over a mile inland from the coast at West Bay, the location for the ITV recent drama Broadchurch, where the River Brit flows out to the sea. It nestles among the hills of West Dorset and is a Gateway Town giving access to the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site, and its varied beaches at Burton Bradstock, Charmouth, Lyme Regis, Chesil and Weymouth. Bridport is a Beacon Town in recognition of the quality and diversity of its local produce and many local producers trade at the Farmers Market in the Arts Centre on the second Saturday of the month and also trade on the Wednesday and Saturday street markets. There are also a number of award winning restaurants in the local area including The Bull Hotel within Bridport and The Hive Beach Cafe at Burton Bradstock. Bridport also has a strong artistic and literary community holding various events showcasing the work of local artists. The Electric Palace in Bridport is a unique venue hosting a variety of music, comedy, theatre & cinematic events throughout the year.
