I'm a surf traveler that grew up in So. Cal in the 70's. As a child with my family and later in my teens we went to Baja Mexico on fishing & surf trips. Those were some of the best times of my life. So many stories so many memories so much fun.
I went to Costa Rica on a Surf Trip with 3 friends back in 1983. It was awesome!!! The whole time I was there I felt like I was in California, but 100 years ago. We stayed at the Duria in Tamarindo, the only place in town to stay at the time. We caught some fun surf but nothing special. We were told we were on the tail end of a swell that had lasted for over 20 days. I knew I would return but when? I had a wife and one on the way back home. My days were numbered.. Back to the grind in Myrtle Beach South Carolina, all I could think about was that cool stretch of beach we walked every morning to go surfing.....Playa Grande I will return...
I'm involved in another piece of property in Palm Beach Estates. Casa de amigos is owned by 6 families from South Carolina. I have been one of the managing partners since 2005 and have been coming down 2-3 times a year since then. We as a family have enjoyed coming down bringing many friends to show them the pura vida lifestyle. More stories more memories and lots more fun.
In February 2012 after losing my dad in July 2011, we invited my Mom, Sister and Brother in law for a family get together at casa de amigos. My two grown girls and wife Laura all looked forward to a family get together in Costa Rica. During our stay, Jack my brother in law and Trisha my sister would walk the neighborhood everyday. They asked me about the beautiful green house for sale down the road. I told them what I knew, It was built by a man named Bill from Canada. He planned to retire there with his wife Maggie and as it turns out after they built the place she became home sick for her kids in Canada and wanted to sell and move from CR. Bill did all he could do to convince Maggie to stay but she would have none of it. And back she went. Long story short Bill went back to Canada and we(my sister brother in law and wife Laura) now own the house.
Back in 1981 my Dad was on a business trip to Cenral America with my Mom and they stopped in Costa Rica for a few days before returning home. They stopped in Ocatal to do some fishing where he caught his first and only Black Marlin I will never forget the pictures of that great fish he caught. That was my introduction to Costa Rica. Two years later I was making my first trip to CR.
This house has been dedicated to my Dad, Frank Allison. The Spanish translation of Frank is Pancho. Thus Pancho's Villa. We invite you come and be part of an ongoing celebration. A celebration of the good life ' pura vida'
This house has so many features. It's very spacious on the inside. For those that want to be outside, the covered porches provide a great place to relax and read your favorite book without getting burned by the sun. But my favorite place is the beach. The beach access is a short walk from our front door. I can grab my board and be in the water in less than 5 minutes. Not bad by any standards. And lets not forget the pool. Our oasis in the afternoon sun. Cheers
