GLEN HAVEN CABIN ON FOX CREEK

Glen Haven Cabin Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom, 1 bath 7 miles from the hustle and bustle of Estes Park.

Hand-built cabin in the midst of the tall trees of Roosevelt National Forest features 3 bedrooms with king, queen and full size beds. The large bathroom has a walk-in shower. Washer and dryer downstairs is just off the fireplace alcove. The well appointed kitchen has everything you'll need to cook your meals when you're not BBQ'ing on the gas grill by the picnic table. There is parking enough for 2 cars.

While the cabin suffered no damage in the September flooding, the town of Glen Haven was mostly destroyed. The road up to Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park is fine and should have no, or only very minimal delays.

Suitability:
  • children welcome
  • limited accessibility
  • non smoking only

About Sue Mills

John hand-built this comfortable cabin over 20 years time by laying each stone and log with care. You appreciate his devotion to his craft from the moment you walk through the door.

Sue Mills purchased this cabin in 1980

Why Sue Mills chose Glen Haven

Glen Haven is a special place. The folks around here keep a slower pace in order to savor the delights of abundant wildlife, both fauna and flora.

What makes this cabin unique

It's so quiet here. You will enjoy the sounds of the babbling brook just outside through the open window, or from the deck that runs along three sides of the cabin. When you grill up your supper on the gas grill, don't be surprised if our fox shows up to politely wait for a hand out, too!

Great experience

  • 5 of 5
My family of 4 (including 2 teenage daughters) had a great time at this cabin. We enjoyed walking around the area of Glen Haven in the evenings and spent our days in Estes Park or hiking at Rocky Mountain National Park - both are very accessible from this location. The cabin was very clean. It was not fancy, but very comfortable. Kitchen was well-stocked for cooking basic meals. We enjoyed time out on the deck; hearing the running water of the nearby creek was very relaxing. Any issue that came up was easily solved by brother's owner, John, who lives nearby. We met other neighbors in Glen Haven area who were very friendly. Extensive movie collection in basement to play on VCR; there is also a DVD player and satellite TV. Wi-fi connection was excellent. It was nice to have the washer and dryer as we were there for 1 week and went home with clean clothes. We would stay here again.

Amazing vacation with the kids at Fox Creek Cabin

  • 5 of 5
We had a fantastic time at the Cabin. I will admit that we were a little surprised by the location, we thought from the pictures that the cabin was secluded and its not, it is in a nice little mountain neighborhood. I'd guess the lot is about a 1/2 acre. But once we settled in it was a secluded as we needed it to be. The creek running through the property was amazing and my kids played in it everyday. The neighborhood was great for walking through and everyone we encountered was very friendly and had a huge smile on their face. This is the perfect location to have as a base for your RMNP adventures or just hang out and enjoy. The owners brother met us as we pulled up and gave us a quick tour and then was off. We saw deer, squirrels, chipmunks, and a snake all right out the front door. One day we were taking nap and a hummingbird literally flew into our bedroom, we had to help the little guy find his way back out.

This is a fantastic cabin and a great place to spend some quality time with your family. I'd highly recommend it and the only reason we wouldn't stay here again is if we bought our own cabin in Fox Creek, thats how much we enjoyed it. We didn't want to leave!

Perfect get away!

  • 5 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay at the Glen Haven Cabin on Fox Creek - it was truly a haven.

The home was very clean and well maintained and with the owner across the road, any questions were quickly answered. There were 6 of us staying there, and with three bedrooms, we each had our own space. The two teens enjoyed having the room off the deck and we all loved hearing the creek below. Watching hummingbirds flit by was great.

We went hiking each day. There are great hikes nearby and going into Rocky Mountain National Park was easy to do. We packed a lunch, headed out for the day and returned to cook in the well stocked kitchen for our evening meals. We had planned to eat out at some point but preferred to be at the picnic table at the cabin instead. We did pick up the fabulous cinnamon roles and the nearby General Store one day.

As we were in the midst of a longer vacation, having a laundry to use to leave with all clean clothes was very nice.

We would certainly recommend this to family and friends as a great experience and would certainly consider renting this again.

Everything we hoped for ! Very accurately described in listing. Close to Estes yet close to wilderness.
Very clean and comfortable. Spent my 60th birthday here and I will always treasure my stay. Plan to return soon as possible. The owner was extra helpful in every way, even sending drving instructions.
John is a hoot ! Very kind and witty, also very helpful. Comforting to know if anything was wrong, he could make it right. My Border Collie was just in heaven. We took great hikes, saw all the sights, and dined at Mary's Lake Lodge on my birthday. I would highly recommend this cabin. Although it was just my wife and I and our dog, this would be perfect for two couples. Plenty roomy. We plan to bring our neighbors next time.

Great cabin, clean and beautiful

  • 5 of 5
My family and I spent a week in August in this rustic cabin. The experience was excellent. The cabin is beautiful with stone tile floors and thick wood countertops. There is a lovely deck that we relaxed on in the afternoon after a long hike in nearby RMNP. The beds were comfortable and the bedroom furniture has that 'cabin charm' unique to mountain culture. The bath was updated with white tile floors and a newer shower. It was all very comfortable.

The driveway is steep but we new that before we arrived. John, the owners brother, lives up the hill and went out of his way to get some compacted fill to even out the road and accomodate our parking place. He is a cheerful character and adds a personal touch to the local charm.

Glen Haven is interesting in itself. The B&B must have fine dining because the restaurant was full most nights. The General Store is quaint and had good cherry cobler even though the owner is somewhat of a curmudgeon. I bought my wife and daughter some artistic jewelry from Leah's, whose place I recommend as well. There is interesting items which are all hand crafted. Very fun.

My family and I recomend this place and may be back next year...

Clean and cozy

  • 4 of 5
went for a last minute family trip. The cabin is very clean and nice. It was also much more affordable than most hotels and cabins during the high season.
We did struggle a bit with our toddler bc the morning cold and light woke him up very early. However, there is a very large closet in the master bedroom that was large enough to fit his pack n play so he slept much better the second day. You could also fit a twin mattress in there too.
Since this place is pet friendly we did take our black lab and he loved it. Especially the creek out back!
I would recommend this cabin.

Owner's Response: The furnace fires up quickly once you turn on the thermostat. Don't forget to set it the night before. It can be such a balmy evening in the mountains that one tends to forget how much it can change over night.
