NEWLY ON THE MARKET!
Our family-owned cottage sits under a huge willow tree that we played under as kids. We welcome you to enjoy the quiet, savor the night sky, explore all that surrounds this beautiful area, and then cook up your latest catch at our fully furnished cottage that sleeps up to six persons. Kid and pet friendly. Ample parking for boats, ATVs, jet skis, etc. Here you have the best of both worlds, the quiet small town country feel that allows you to kick back and relax, and yet are able to get to the action of the city in 30 minutes. A BBQ grill and charcoal is provided along with outside furniture and a fire pit...a great way to end a wonderful day.
My name is Kari, as a girl I spent my summers here with my grandparents, enjoying the beauty of Northern Michigan while I worked with my grandpa around the homestead. Almost 30 years ago my grandparents were unable to keep the property due to health reasons and sold it to another family member, although I was glad it was still in the family I had always thought of it as mine. Then in 2006 my dream came true and I came home again! During the last year I have completely renovated the cottage and am excited about sharing the love I have for this place with others.
Kari Barker purchased this cottage in 2006
My grandparents purchased this property in 1975, at that time is was in rough shape, yet they had a vision of what could be and turned their homestead into a Benzie County landmark. Before the new boat launch went in and the road was reconfigured, all anyone would have to say is 'the V property' and it was immediately recognized.
The cottage is newly remodeled and is cozy, comfortable, quiet and beautiful. Although it is located just of of M-115 it is very quiet and almost remote feeling, except that you are centrally located in Benzie county and close to so many activities(boat launch, beaches, trails, fishing, skiing, and snowmobiling). As I furnished the cottage I put a lot of thought into what families or friends would want and need in a vacation home, and I wanted it to truly be a home away from home. With that in mind, all linens and towels are provided, there is a full kitchen with all dishware, pots and pans and utensils available. Paper products such as toilet paper, paper towels, napkins and food storage have been provided as well as charcoal for the grill. Pets are welcome! I believe this would be a comfortable place to stay for couples, families, skiers, fisherman and those who love the fall colors...all are welcome.
My family and I had a great time at the cottage. It was cute, clean and cozy. It's in a perfect location for touring Benzie county which is a beautiful area! Better for my family than staying in a hotel. Kari was a wonderful hostess leaving us local information on fall fun activities and making sure we had everything we needed. She also had treats waiting for us upon arrival. She even left milk bones for our dog and carrots for our bunny! So thoughtful! Kari also provided hot chocolate, tea, coffee and some breakfast items on a bakers rack in the kitchen. I would say that the extra special touches from the owner help set this place above many others! We will stay here again! Thanks Kari!
Quite little place perfect for a family especially with a dog in a nice area. We enjoyed our stay very much. Kari was very helpful and house warming even leaving us cookies, muffins, fruit and dog treats. I would recommend this place for any couple or small family. Thanks again.
This is a very clean & cozy cottage that is close to everything up north in the Traverse area. So many fun things to do in the area. The owner Kari goes above & beyond to make your stay a relaxing & comfortable one.
Kari, take a look at your coffee pot. It took over an hour to brew a pot of coffee.
We had a wonderful time at the cottage- perfect size and everything we needed. The kids loved the bunk beds and the fire pit. Just a short drive to Frankfort for the beach and ice cream. Check out the Cherry Bowl Drive In up the road. A great way to spend a summer night.
The cottage was adorable and had everything my husband and I needed for our two night stay. It was close to some trails for snow shoeing and a short drive to Crystal Mountain for skiing. Kari was a wonderful hostess who made sure we had everything we needed. The cottage is clean and cozy. Would HIGHLY recommend and we plan to go back!
