THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Fort Greene and Clinton Hill are perfect for strolling and people watching. Populated by artists and musicians, the neighborhood attracted actors and others who enjoy the eclectic, diverse, and laid back vibe in the beautiful architectural streets. There are hundreds of restaurants, boutiques, bars, cafes, parks, and playgrounds just steps away. Some of our favorite restaurants, cafes, and bakeries are just a few short blocks away.

On your stay, join locals at one of the many nearby outdoor bars or pubs (such as Habana Outpost, Hot Bird, or Der Shwarze Kolner, Dekalb Market) or parks. Dozens of acclaimed restaurants featuring word and fusion fares are within walking distance. Hope on the train to get to the music venues in Williamsburg, the acclaimed restaurants of Smith Street, or a night out in Manhattan.

The Brooklyn Flea is just one block away and provides all the best culinary exposures that Brooklyn has to offer in one place, in addition of course, to fantastic hipster and antique flea finds. Fort Greene is also home to the internationally renowned Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) where you can attend theatre, dance, symphonies, watch movies, eat dinner and dance to live music at the BAM café, or attend a dance or exercise class. Pratt Institute is also just a short walk away and the brand new Brooklyn Nets Barclay Stadium is within 10 minutes walk. Of course, with the subway only 2 minutes away, you could really go anywhere you please. And don’t forget to swing by Cakeman Raven for Fort Greene’s famous red-velvet cake.

PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS

Nearby larger parks include Fort Greene Park and Prospect Park, which houses a zoo, botanic gardens, carousel, and much more. Across the street from the apartment is a football field with track that is open to the public for morning or evening exercise. There are also half a dozen playgrounds with play equipment targeted for babies through children up to 12 years old within 3-5 blocks away that include sprinklers, basketball courts, and open fields. Fort Greene is a very kid-friendly neighborhood with boutiques, restaurants, bookstores, and studios dedicated to kids of all ages.

We love Brooklyn and hope we can share our love for our neighborhood and our community with you. You'll often find us sitting on our stoop with our toddler on summer evenings enjoying the neighborhood. We hope to make everyone love Brooklyn as much as we do.

Paula purchased this townhome in 2008

We live in an 1866 Brownstone with classic charm paired with modern appeal. In New York, location is everything, and with the nearby subways and activities, and restaurants, this apartment is perfect as a home base on your next vacation or business trip.

With the angle of the street, the windows in our apartment get direct sunlight, making them bright and airy. We are located in the beautiful Fort Greene Historic District

The apartment is very bright and nicely furnished with a well-equipped kitchen, fluffy towels, even a hair dryer so you don't need to bring anything extra. The owner lives on the main floor and is very helpful; there is a big binder with listings for local restaurants and shops you may need during your stay. Public transportation is convenient. The only drawback is that the stairs are a bit steep and it's on the third floor. Think of that as part of your daily exercise program.

We have just returned from a brilliant family holiday in NYC with this Brooklyn apartment as our base. The apartment was really comfortable and in a pretty and traditional tree lined avenue. It is on the edge of a slightly grittier area - but nothing that felt threatening. Just a normal place really.
The subway is handy, although as Brits used to the simplicity of the London Underground map, we found the New York subway trickier to navigate.
The Forte Greene neighbourhood is great - we went to the Saturday Green market and the Brooklyn Flea. Neither market was frantic but both had some good quality and quirky finds. We also spent a lot of time in Brooklyn Heights - great food and spectacular views of Manhattan.
Overall, we really enjoyed our holiday - and I much preferred going home to Brooklyn in the evening rather than stay in some pokey Manhattan hotel room.

On behalf of our little travelling group, I want to say thankyou for helping us secure accommodation in Brooklyn this year. We absolutely loved living in the apartment for 5 nights & will have no issue recommending it to others in the future. The apartment was perfect for our situation and had everything that we required for our short, but memorable visit. Thanks a million

This is an awesome place to set up camp in NYC. It's located near the Atlantic Terminal so you can get to practically any line you may need throughout the entire city. (There is a closer stop, the C, which is just 2 blocks down the street). It's particularly great if you are interested in discovering what Brooklyn has to offer (Ft Greene, Carroll Gardens, BK Heights, Smith street restaurants, views of lower Manhattan from the promenade, Brooklyn Museum, etc), but everything is incredibly accessible because of your location. My friend and I mostly spent the days in Manhattan, though, and felt the commute was easy.

I used to live in NYC so this did not surprise me, but if you are not prepared, get prepared: this property does not have A/C. Most places in NYC do not, so it's not out of the norm. The property is shaded by trees in the back, so at night with the fan going and the windows open, you should be fine. However, everyone is different and you should know that ahead of time if you are a summer traveler. Also, it's the top floor in a 3 floor walk up. We huffed and puffed up the stairs a little, but I could use some exercise. :)

The property was very clean and parts of it have been renovated. It still has an old brownstone charm but it definitely has been cared for and updated some. The owners live in the building and they are on hand if you need anything. Very sweet and accommodating people.

Over all, a great little place to call your home for the weekend. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.

Easy Process, Great Location, and Good Brooklyn Vibe

The highly personable and organized Paula was fantastic to work with and it was easy to get to the apartment and to get in. The location is superb -- a short walk to BAM, the Brooklyn Flea, great restaurants and the Brooklyn Museum. The third-floor walk-up apartment is as advertised. The kitchen is well equipped. It would be nice to have a small coffee table in the living room, but that is no big thing. Great windows and a ceiling fan made for wonderful air flow. The bed in the smaller bedroom is not great, but is OK for a couple of nights. I recommend this very nice place, for sure.
