Amazing location. Perfect for seeing the best NYC has to offer.
We have stayed in a number of VRBO properties in New York City, and this was the best. Our hosts were most accommodating, being there to greet us upon arrival even though our plane was delayed. We were delighted to find the apartment spotlessly clean and well-furnished. The location was ideal, being within walking distance of the Theater District, enabling us to see five shows while in the City. In addition to the Radio City Christmas Show and the New York City Ballet production of the Nutcracker at Lincoln Center,we utilized the TKTS kiosk in Times Square to score discounted same-day tickets to Pippin (3rd Row Orchestra), On The Town (1st Row Orchestra), and If/Then Matinee. We also were within walking distrance of many of our old favorite restaurants, Cara Mia on 9th, Maria Pia and Tout Va Bien on 51st, and new additions to our list, Stecchino, just around the corner on 9th, and Crispin's on the corner of 52nd and 10th. Central Park, Fifth Avenue shopping, St. Patrick's Cathedral and Rockefeller Center were an easy walk, and, for the mandatory trip to Macy's to view the Holiday Window displays, the subway connection was close by. To our wonderful hosts, a special thanks for the attentiveness to our needs both before and during our stay. Of the many VRBO properties that we have utilized both in the United States and Europe, this was by far the best personal service from the hosts. When it comes time to return to New York, we will hope to return to this apartment.
Perfect location. Perfect host. Met us personally at the apartment to welcome us and was very accessible if we needed anything (which we didn't because we had everything we needed and more). Very clean and very comfortable apartment for a week stay.
It had been 20 years since my last visit to NYC and the first time for the rest of the family.
The location was perfect. Very close to all the things we wanted to do yet quite enough to enjoy downtime after a long day of having fun.
The hosts were/are really nice people and so helpful. After our 'get acquainted' intro to the apartment and the neighborhood, our hosts were very kind to help with sightseeing, restaurant recommendations, getting transportation and so forth. Just a call or text away!
We enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely return to this place and with these hosts. Highly recommend.
One of the best choices we made on this trip was choosing this apartment as a place to stay. Our hosts made us feel welcome from the start of our booking from the end of our stay. The apartment was clean, comfortable and a great place to come home to at the end of the day. The location was perfect. We were able to walk to most of the places we wanted to visit and if we couldn't walk there the subway was just a few blocks away. Our hosts provided us with guidebooks and maps and we found everything pretty easily. We did the Metropolitan Museum, MoMA and the Guggenheim, walked the Brooklyn Bridge, the Highline and Central Park and saw the views from the Empire State Building and the Top of the Rock. We ate very well and mostly within a few blocks of home! We were able to see several plays and the 1/2 price ticket booth in Times Square and all the theaters are very close. All in all, it was a great vacation and having a lovely place to stay in such a great location made us feel at ease and very at home in this awesome city. Our hosts were the icing on the cake, even though we were very independent, we knew they were just a text away if we had any questions. I would absolutely stay here again.
When I decide to rent an apartment for a vacation stay, I want the place to be homey and comfy, clean and quiet. And after a day of traveling, I want the initial meet-up with the owners to be effortless. If the apartment's location puts you smack dab in the middle of all the fun the city has to offer, well, that's icing on the cake. I can tell you that this property is all of the above and more. The owners are charming, welcoming and understanding, and the apartment is well laid out and roomy.
The location of this apartment is ideal. It is within blocks of the best theaters in New York and some of the best places to eat (9th Avenue). It's a few blocks from major subway lines and close to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Within minutes you can be shopping on Fifth Avenue, walking through Central Park or on a subway taking you directly to Battery Park so you can hop a ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. You can walk a few blocks to the west and spend time walking, biking or skating in a park along the Hudson River. You can be out for the day, then head back to the apartment to freshen up before you head out for the theater or dinner — it's so convenient.
You might think that because this apartment is so centrally located it is noisy, but it's not. You sleep like a baby in the comfy queen bed. And the shower is nice with plenty of hot water.
There are small corner grocery stores within a block or two and a major supermarket about three blocks away. The apartment's kitchen is small, but it has a gas stove and all the usual kitchen wares so you can cook a meal with ease.
My recent stay came after I and my nephew had a very long day of traveling cross-country and dealing with canceled airline flights. Our plan to meet the owner changed about three times, and each time I emailed with updated flight information, I was reassured that I need not worry. My nephew, who had never been to NY or a big city before, would be arriving without me as his guide and I was concerned. The host contacted my nephew and helped guide him to the apartment via train and taxi. When my nephew finally arrived hours later than planned (I arrived even later), the owner was there to meet him. Noticing my nephew looked tired and hungry, the owner ordered a pizza for my nephew and paid for it! What generosity and hospitality!
The next time I'm planning a trip to New York City, I will want to stay here again. It's my new favorite place!
I always operate under the “if it’s too good to be true, then it probably is” motto. Originally, I thought this posting was too good to be true, but everything in the glowing reviews is true. We stayed one week in this apartment and we had a wonderful time visiting everything from the Statue of Liberty to the Guggenheim and everything in between (Ellis Island, Wall Street, two Broadway plays Constellation and Delicate Balance – TKTS treated us well, Neon Lights Tour through Greenwich Village and Tour of Grand Central Terminal provided by masnyc.org, Empire State Building – do not buy tickets off the street, Natural History Museum, Central Park, to name a few). The hosts recommended the “Hopstop” app for public transportation which proved to be a lifesaver each day. I recommend getting a multi-day pass for public transit to match as best as possible with your stay. Other helpful recommendations from our private concierge (the hosts) included the Westerly Market that helped me accommodate my special dietary issues, the Russian Vodka Room close to the apartment that we didn’t get to, but we will make time for this during our next visit, and several philosophical tidbits that were answers to my husband’s smartass (although well-intended) response when the host asked us if we had any questions. Interestingly enough, the philosophical answers provided by the host provided unique conversation as we walked through Central Park. “The City” is such a different world from where my husband and I come from. The hosts of this apartment are the perfect and unexpected welcome committee to the wonderful city of Manhattan.
I would definitely stay in this apartment again and recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Manhattan. This apartment gives you privacy that you don’t get in a hotel, but also comes with a personal concierge service of the hosts. The apartment is very fairly priced and the location is fantastic. The pictures are an accurate representation of the space. We felt very safe walking everywhere, easy access to all the main attractions and plenty of restaurant options. We settled in immediately making this our home base to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.
This location is perfectly nestled in between Times Square, Central Park, and the BROADWAY shows theatre district. You also have the Hudson River only two blocks away. 9th Avenue has an array of incredible cuisine and the best (reasonable) restaurant row in all of Manhattan.
