New Meadows House Rental Photos and Description
House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)
If you're coming to Meadows Valley, you either have to fly into tiny New Meadows Airport, or, take the scenic route. If you're driving, bring your camera and drive north from McCall. The road will lift you up through incredible mountain vistas filled with tall pines, winding streams, and the occasional herd of deer. Once you arrive at this elegant two-story condo - nestled on the western edge of the valley where the wooded slope rises into wilderness - you'll be directly across from the putting green of New Meadows Gold where you can tee-up to all the amenities offered by this beautiful mountain resort.
The wood fireplace with the stone facade, the colonial furniture, and the tartan patterns in the drapery and chairs lends an air of country elegance to Ponderosa's living area. Big, multiple windows allow in ample light to make it a bright, cheery space. But elegant doesn't mean antiquated. You might also bring along a couple of your favorite movies for the DVD player. There's a TV as well but, sorry, no cable. Grab a drink, and step out onto the deck where you can watch the golfers sink their putts (or not!), tennis players volleying, or just enjoy the gorgeous mountain scenery all around.
Ponderosa Condo has room for four. The elegant country tone struck in the living room continues in the master bedroom where you'll feel like royalty in the four-poster California size bed under a vaulted ceiling, with a colonial style armoire and a wall papered in tartan plaid. The master suite has its own full bath and access to the balcony where you can step out in the morning for that breath of fresh mountain air. Along with the queen bed in the second bedroom, you'll find the same elegant furnishings, also with access to balcony.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome (a $10 per night, per pet fee applies along with a $40 minimum per stay).
If you're hungry and looking to dine out, there are five restaurants around New Meadows where you can get everything from haute cuisine to a meatball sandwich. To widen your choices by a factor of six, make the trip over to McCall where there are 30. If you're staying in, Ponderosa's full, well-equipped kitchen is up to the challenge with lots of room and everything the cook might need for easy prep and cleanup. Weather permitting, fire up the gas grill and enjoy a barbeque.
In addition to the golf course, driving range and practice greens, there's the Osprey Complex where you can play a game of tennis, swim in the outdoor seasonal heated pool, steam away your cares in the warmth of the spa, or grab a bite at the snack bar. Fee is $10/person for day pass. You can call the Pro Shop to book tee times. 208.347.2555.
Beyond the resort is a whole world of activities, no matter what the season! Bring the rods and the tackle box, the kayaks, and the canoes - the Salmon River is less than a mile away. Head over to Riggins (about 38 minutes north) and hop on a whitewater rafting trip. Goose Creek Falls Mountain Bike Trail is just four miles away (five miles, intermediate difficulty). Or, slip into the steamy waters of Zimm's Hot Springs, just 10 minutes away. Golfers: In addition to New Meadows, there are six other courses within 20 miles where you can try your luck. For skiers, Brundage Mountain is less than an twenty minutes away. Oh, and if you have a letter for Santa, you're about half way there. Just 2.5 miles north of New Meadows is the 45th parallel - a popular photo spot - where you'll be half way to the North Pole.
