There you can find comfortable coffee bars, taverns and shopping facilities. The picturesque bathing beaches of Akoli and Lambiri, with its beach localities are in the close neighbourhood of Longos. Good bus connections are available.
Harmony and the landscape:
The characteristics of the landscape are the fertility of the plain, covered with lemon, orange and olive trees, the viniculture regions (especially Corinth) on hills and mountains. In this mountainous region, you can find the typical mountainous villages, hidden mountain monasteries and antique cities. In the background, the Chelmos mountainous chain (2300 m) unfolds itself, and there is also a ski region from January until March. On the foot of mountain Chelmos, there is the famous mountainous town Kalavryta, which can be reached from the coastal town Diakofto with a cog railway, which drives you through the wonderful protected natural park of Vouraikos. The famous port Patra is 35 km away. It is the third biggest port in Greece and it is well known for its historical center, castle and the dome St. Andrew, the Roman Odeon where there are festivals even today. Near Patras, there is the longest suspension bridge in Europe.
Harmony and the antique cities in Greece:
The small town Aegion (ca. 30.000 inhabitants) is 7 km away from Harmony. It used to be the capital of the Archaic Federation, and together with the 2300 year old Helike, an important trade city in Greece. Nowadays, Aegion is an active small town, exporting port for Corinth wines and olives, and importing port for bananas. Aegion ist he capital of the province Aegialia, at the Corinth Gulf. Our region has a rich antique history. The convenient geographical location of Harmony offers the possibility to our guests to visit the antique cities of Greece, such as Olympia, Delphi, Corinth, Epidaurus, Mycenae and Athena during a day trip.
Ski:
The modern ski center on the mountains Helmos, by Kalavryta is located ca. 60 km away. You can reach it by car or by train from Diakofto.
