Our airy, family-friendly 4 bedroom Victorian home is in one of the most convenient and central locations in Marquette. 10 min. walk to downtown MQT, the Harbor, grocery store, pharmacy and sit down/fast food dining. 15 minute walk to Marquette General Hospital, NMU, and white sand beaches at Mc Carty's Cove on Lake Superior. You could enjoy your stay without ever driving your car!
Our home also features a spacious fenced back yard, front porch, and enclosed rear porch, 1 and 1/2 bath with claw-foot tub, vaulted ceilings and lots of natural light. We are across the street from basketball courts and a playground (appropriate for upper elementary) and Kaufman auditorium.
A great place to to stay if you are getting married in MQT, visiting NMU, attending to business at Marquette General Hospital, biking, hiking, sailing, or just enjoying all of the spectacular beaches, waterfalls and trails that begin within the Marquette city limits. Marquette plays host to countless events throughout the year and our home offers a convenient and relaxing getaway.
Hi! We're the Dohrenwends, a family of four that live and work abroad in Tokyo, Japan. While we're here we love to spend our time picking blueberries and thimbleberries, riding our bikes on Marquette's excellent bike paths, going on picnics to the sublime local beaches and waterfalls, hiking on trails off of CR 550, fishing, rock-climbing and gardening.

One of the things we love about our house in Marquette is the easy access to so many of our favorite local spots! Our two children love to visit the excellent Peter White Public Library, playgrounds, and local farmers' market on Saturdays, all within 10 minutes walk from our front door. 3rd Street, which is a 1/2 block away, has more than 10 local restaurants on offer, a small grocery store, pharmacy, local brewery, you name it... our location couldn't be more ideal for your stay, whether you are attending one of Marquette's many events, visiting a son or daughter at NMU, utilizing services at Marquette General Hospital, or enjoying the dizzying amount of recreational activities on offer in the region.
Aside from the location, we think you'll enjoy the character of our 100 year old Victorian house. It has lots of natural light, turn-of-the-century wood moldings, bannisters and doors, 10 foot ceilings, stained glass windows, a claw-foot bathtub, front porch and back sun room. We have a large fenced-in back yard which is shaded by a giant silver Maple, one of the oldest trees in the city. If you're here in spring, summer, or fall you can help yourself to some of the fruits and vegetables we grow in our garden. Depending on when you're here, there may be strawberries, asparagus, rhubarb, fresh herbs, raspberries, apples, tomatoes, or salad greens. And if you've got a green thumb yourself you're welcome to pull a weed or two if you can't help yourself.
This home was terribly convenient for getting downtown for local events. We were to walk to most things. The town itself is amazing with snow removal, so even the civil emergency closing down roads didn't stop us from getting about town. The home is beautiful with tons of woodwork. The bedrooms were comfy, and the kitchen was well equipped. The only downside was the low water pressure of the shower, but with all the positives, that is quite trivial.
The owners and caretakers were easy to contact and quick to respond to any questions. The place was very clean and tidy with all the amenities for cooking and comfortably lounge around. The basement was perfect for storing our fat bikes which we rode everyday we were there. Quite the experience and perfect location!
We had a great time in this well appointed old Marquette home. Location was perfect. We could walk downtown or to the lake. We most appreciated the radiant heat which was very comfortable and the person who shoveled and cleared snow in the morning. With four bedrooms and equipment for children in the basement, it seems perfect for families. It is fun for me to stay in homes different from my own. That is adventure for me.
The house was very well maintained. VERY comfortable heat, exceptionally clean (and I am a neat freak), and beautiful!!. I enjoyed the comforting touches like the toys in the basket for children, and the collection of books I enjoyed during my relaxation time. The decor was modern in it's convenience, but kept the historical charm throughout the house! This house easily sleeps 9. Parking was perfect and ample. This house would be great for many different families or groups. I am disabled and have children with Autism and this house was not a problem for any of us.
This home is conveniently located within walking distance of the Lake, close to entertainment, and easily accessible. The home is very comfortable with plenty of room to sleep 9-10 people. We were in town for our niece's wedding and were very comfortable for the 3 nights we stayed in Marquette.
