Guestbook comments from the manager
We stayed at Villa Sophia August 28th - Sept 4th and it was trully the BEST vacation we have ever had! The directions to your office were very good and we met Bryan who was very nice and took us to the villa and showed us around. Anytime we had questions - like where the bus stop was back to Croce, etc your staff was always very friendly and helpful! The villa is just amazing and the views of Lake Como are stunning! We really appreciated the 'welcome basket' that we ordered - it was nice to have some food after traveling so far! We rented a car but the local bus system works very well too and it is nice to have a bus stop so close to Villa Sophia.
We took your advice and ate at La Barcola and it was wonderful! Other restaurants along the Lake we would suggest are: Trattoria Del Glicine in Cernobbio and the Aqua Dolce in Carate Urio. We think everyone should take a ferry ride - we went to Bellagio which was beautiful. The nearby villas are also lovely especially Villa del Balbianello in Lenno and Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo. Some of our friends went to a cooking lesson with Chef Luigi in Bellagio and they had a great time! If anyone is a car enthusiast it is worth the 3 hour drive south to Modena to tour the Ferrari museum, the Pagani museum and factory and the Lamborghini factory and museum - it makes for a long day but is fantastic - AND you get to drive a Ferrari or Lamborghini:) Their website is: motorstars.org.
Funny thing we liked about the villa Sophia was the nearly naked man ironing board cover - we all got a laugh out of that one - so I sent you a picture of it:) Can't buy anything like that in America! We were thinking it is probably an Italian man's way of having his wife iron his clothes more!
We loved waking up each day to the views of Lake Como and miss it very much! A special 'thank you' to Lydia for taking all of our phone calls from the States with our many questions and reserving the villa for us - sorry you were not in the office when we stopped by! Also a big thank you to Bryan who spoke Tagalog with my husband and made us feel right at home!
