Casoli Villa Rental Photos and Description

Country villa just for couples, set between the mountains and the Adriatic sea

Welcome to a different type of Italian villa rental holiday, which in April 2014 was featured on BBC TV's travel series 'Escape to the Continent'.

Just three tranquil villas for two, set in beautiful, unspoiled countryside, with what one of our guests calls 'the best views in Abruzzo'.

Inside each villa, it's light, cool and airy, with individually-controlled air-conditioning; central heating; and free wireless internet access.

Right outside your door, there's your own private space on the big sun terrace, with a wooden table, stripey sun umbrella and a couple of wooden chairs. Perfect for breakfast; al fresco dining; or a nightcap under the stars.

Just for our guests, there's a sparkling salt-water swimming pool, bordered by olive trees, with another sun terrace. And with never more than six people here at any time, there's plenty of space to spread out and relax, with enough comfy sunbeds and umbrellas for everyone.

With well over 400 villa rentals in Abruzzo available through HomeAway, we never forget you have a choice, so we'll always try that little bit harder to ensure you get the very best value for your money and have a wonderful time on your Villasfor2 holiday.

That's why in 2010, 2011 and 2012 our villas earned more 5-star reviews on the HomeAway website than any of their other Abruzzo properties.

Details for Villa Pesco Falcone 1 Bedroom, Sleeps 2, 1 Bathroom

Like each of our three Abruzzo holiday villas, Villa Pesco Falcone rose from the ruins of a 19th century barn, keeping to the traditional local style of cream-washed walls; dark green shutters; and big, curved roof tiles. Each of our villas is split-level. Downstairs are cool tiled floors, white walls and wood beams, with double glass doors opening onto your own private area on a big south-facing sun terrace. You've a comfortable sitting area to relax, read, or watch a DVD; a dining table and chairs; a well-equipped kitchen with gas hob, oven and fridge; and a clean, modern tiled bathroom with sink, WC, bidet and walk-in shower. Upstairs there's a wood-floored, galleried mezzanine with a kingsize double bed - or, if you prefer, twin singles. There's plenty of room too for all your holiday bits-and-pieces and a small personal safe. And if you need to keep in touch during your holiday, we have free WiFi access and fantastic cellphone reception !

About David & Pauline Brenner

We're David and Pauline Brenner.

David was formerly a television presenter with the BBC; Pauline worked in IT. We moved to Abruzzo from Somerset in south-west England in October 2007 and now live here permanently and look after our three holiday rental villas.

David & Pauline Brenner purchased this villa in 2008

Why David & Pauline Brenner chose Casoli

We'd looked at 96 different properties before coming across the one we finally bought.

Just take in our surroundings and our amazing views and you'll understand why it took about 10 seconds to realise we'd found exactly what we'd been looking for !

Guestbook comments from the owner

Stayed here 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. David and Pauline were the perfect hosts. Unobtrusive but always nearby if you needed any assistance. They also provided a wealth of information on the region and things to do, and great restaurant recommendations. The villas are comfortable and appointed with all the necessities that a couple would require for a stay. We loved the view from the bed out through a large square window over the surrounding countryside. Would strongly recommend a stay here. K&N, London

Perfect getaway break - highly recommended for R+R

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderfully relaxing break and exceeded our hopes and expectations. David and Pauline were very helpful in accommodating us in the available time we had - sadly only four nights. The level of organisation and consideration they showed was fantastic - from detailed instructions on how to reach the villa, to the thoughtful suggestion of where we could pick up breakfast for the morning following our late night arrival (all emailed to us prior to our flight), to driving us around on a guided tour of the locale to point out where the local services, bars, shops etc where. Having said that, their hospitality was never intrusive, but if you had any questions or needed any help they were close by. The villa was spotlessly clean and very well equipped, the bed was lovely and comfy and the complimentary local beers in the fridge were a nice touch after our late drive from the airport (as was the local wine and olive oil). Do keep the flyscreen down in the evening tho' as the mossies and midges seem to have a voracious appetite! We thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility of the place and found it fabulous to unwind and "de-stress". We really couldn't have wished for better. We had some terrifically good weather for the first two days (and made good use of the pool) but even when it got a little stormy and we had rain, it was snug and cosy just sitting in the villa, with the doors open, reading and watching the mountainous vista change with the weather as it came up the valley below. If you want a lovely place to getaway from the hustle and bustle, yet still be within 30mins drive of the coast or the Alpine-esque Majella National Park, then this is a perfect place to come. Our only regret was that we only had four nights here - something we hope to remedy in the not too distant future by returning for a longer stay. Thank you David and Pauline for such a lovely time.

Exactly as described

  • 5 of 5

We have recently returned from a two week stay and what struck me over and over again is that this holiday is exactly as described on the excellent Villasfor2 website. We were delighted with the villa, which has been very thoughtfully designed and furnished and which really is just perfect for two people. We found the bed very comfortable, especially for my husband who has had real back problems on other trips, and there was plenty of drawer and hanging space.

We cooked for ourselves at least half the time and found the kitchen well equipped and perfectly adequate for preparing quite decent meals. All washed down of course with some excellent wine from the highly recommended wine bar! It has been said many times already by other reviewers, but what really does make a difference is the local knowledge and helpfulness of David and Pauline. We ate at some marvellous places - a memorable lunch at Villa Maiella for our anniversary, and the best starters we have ever had at Ai Vecchi Sapori in Lanciano - highly recommend both! David provides very detailed directions for getting to pretty much all the places you are likely to want to go to. We never got lost on the way, but didn't always get it perfect coming back!

The pool area is exquisite - plenty of room even if all three couples are there, very high quality loungers, and the pool itself is just gorgeous. It was surrounded by the most lovely flowers while we were there. I never got tired of just floating around and enjoying the amazing views out over the hills.

We flew into Rome and found the journey to Abruzzo extremely easy. It does take just over three hours, but it's a very easy motorway for all but the last 20 minutes or so. Unfortunately for us, our luggage didn't make it to Rome on the same flight as we did so we turned up late on a Saturday night with only what we stood up in. By then David had already had a phone call from the airline to say our luggage would arrive on Tuesday, so he knew his new visitors might not be quite as cheerful as usual! We were hugely grateful to both David and Pauline for doing everything they could to help us - producing some toiletries to see us through, taking us to shops the next day to get some clothes and then staying in on Tuesday to be there when the luggage arrived. I think that says it all really.

Villasfor2 gave us a taste of the real Italy, combined with excellent customer service and high quality accommodation. A big thank you from both of us!

Owner's Response: One of the nicest reviews we've ever had. We can only say how grateful we are to Annette for her lovely comments, and how pleased we were that a really horrible start to her holiday due to her luggage being lost turned out so well.

Lovely sunny Abruzzo

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time here with two weeks of uninterrupted sunshine. David and Pauline keep their villas immaculately clean and the pool area is just beautiful with its stunning view over the valley. We found plenty to do using the excellent guide to the local area in our villa which was very helpful. David was a mine of information on opening times and how to get to everywhere we wanted to visit and Pauline very kindly lent me her iron and ironing board to do some ironing. The setting of the villas was incredibly peaceful so we slept well and came away feeling very rested. Local eateries kept us well fed with a good range of offerings from pizza to more sophisticated cuisine and the local supermarkets were reasonably priced so we could stock up on cheap beer and food for breakfast and lunch. All in all we had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday here. As we were flying home from Rome we drove down to Tivoli and the Villa D'Este on our penultimate day which worked very well and allowed us to shop in Rome and have one night in a favourite haunt before flying home in the afternoon. This made a wonderful end to a great holiday.

What can I say that has not been said already. Very clean modern open plan villas set in a fantastic location. Very secluded so a car is essential. Shops, bars, bank, fuel and restaurants are all within a few miles drive. The view from the patio outside the villa is fantastic and It was so relaxing in the evening just to enjoy a good bottle of wine and watch the changing colours of the scenery as the sun set.

This is beautiful unspoilt part of Italy, there are very few tourist maps and hardly anyone speaks English but don't let this deter you. David and Pauline (the owners) are always on hand to point you in the right direction, they are very knowledgeable about the area. They recommended some fantastic places to eat where the staff despite the language barrier were incredibly helpful.

We will be back ASAP so what better recommendation can there be.

Good for a relaxing getaway

  • 4 of 5

My partner and I were looking for a place that would give us a chance to unplug and relax, and this villa definitely did the trick. The scenery was breathtaking and the surrounding area was definitely an authentic experience, especially compared to Rome, Florence or another major tourist spot.

The listing description was accurate in terms of the layout and facilities - perhaps the location could have been described a bit more clearly, as this villa is truly off the beaten trail. We did not entirely realize that we were at the top of a large hill/small mountain and that driving to and from was not for the faint of heart. However, once we got the hang of it we felt like old pros and quite enjoyed it.

The property was spotlessly clean and very well-maintained. Very quiet, with the exception of the tractors nearby harvesting the olives - like I said, a very authentic experience. The view from the windows was something I don't think you could ever tire of - a different colour or shade of light every hour. Our only minor quibble with the villa was the bed - perhaps this a difference between North America and Britain, however we found the bed fairly uncomfortable (ie very hard) and difficult to get a great night's sleep. Perhaps we are used to softer sleeps across the ocean!

The owners, David and Pauline, were very helpful and attentive and provided excellent customer service. They provided lots of helpful advice and warnings (for example, David let us know about a fuel strike that we would never have known about, when we were planning on driving the next 3 days).

We would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative who are looking for a quiet vacation surrounded by spectacular scenery. This would be a reasonable home base if you are interested in the Second World War-related history in the area, as we were. There are two Commonwealth War Cemeteries within a 45-min drive or less: Moro River Canadian War Cemetery and Sangro River Commonwealth War Cemetery. Also a 3-hour drive south to Bari War Cemetery.

We enjoyed having a place to cook meals and buying our foodstuffs from the local market down the hillside - where the low prices will make your jaw drop, especially if you've just come from Rome. We didn't take advantage of the myriad of outdoorsy activities available in the area, wasn't quite the right time of year, however David's info binder was very informative for this purpose.

Overall a wonderful spot. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: We really appreciate these positive comments, though we're sorry our Canadian friends found their bed uncomfy. Perhaps people really are used to 'softer sleeps' in different places round the world ! As we underline - and as our guests happily discovered - Abruzzo presents a very different face of Italy to the well-trodden tourist paths of Rome and Tuscany, so it's good to read how much they enjoyed this experience and their time with us. It's an intriguing question as to whether 1200 feet up an Abruzzo hillside might in fact count as a small mountain, but now they're old hands at getting here, we hope they come back and see us soon !

Both having extremely busy jobs and lives, my partner and I needed a complete rest and we certainly had this. The villas are just as they are described with everything required for a perfect stay, even down to the umbrella and re-usable shopping bag. The villa was very comfortable and the welcome passage including chilled wine and beer was just what we wanted after a hot drive. David and Pauline could not have been more friendly and helpful. David has a very comprehensive knowledge of things to do in the area and good, detailed instructions of how to get there; superb restaurants and festivals within easy reach. We shall definately be back next year to sit on the terrace in the silence, drinking wine and looking at the stars. An excellent holiday choice.

Our three Abruzzo villas for two are set between the mountains and the sea, about 4 miles from the small village of Casoli.

It's a corner of Italy still untouched by mass tourism. Uncrowded and unspoiled - but less than an hour from Pescara Airport, which has direct flights to/from the UK with Ryanair.

Other Activities: Majella National Park. WWF nature reserve

Golf: Miglianico GC - host course for the 2009 Mediterranean Games golf event - is just under an hour for us. It's a par-72, 18-hole course of around 6200 yards off the guest tees. The course is well-kept and the greens are particularly fast and true.

Ski: The chairlift at Passo di Lanciano is an hour from us. The huge resort of Roccaraso - the biggest ski complex in the Apennines - is about 75 mins.

Both have a choice of black, blue and red runs; snowboarding; and cross-country-skiing.
