GITE 'NORMANDIE'

Aubeguimont Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Two bed sleeps 4 - One bed sleeps 2

These luxury gites are definitely a 'cut above' and offer superbly comfortable accommodation. Both are decorated and furnished to a very high standard with both contemporary classics and vintage French furniture. They both include English satellite tv, DVD player, stereo and free wi-fi internet connection. The kitchens are extremely well equipped for culinary enthusiasts with quality appliances and cookware.

The gite building shares its history with Le Vieux Presbytere which was built 200 years ago and was restored in 2009 to a very high standard. It was originally the stables and scullery for the main house.

SEE BELOW FOR OUR SPECIAL GOURMET WEEKEND BREAKS IN GITE 'PICARDIE'.

Gite 'Normandie' accomodation comprises a light and spacious living room with open plan kitchen and two bedrooms on the first floor.

Gite 'Picardie' accomodation comprises a lovely spacious living room with separate large galley kitchen and dining area with a luxury bedroom on the ground floor with direct access to the terrace via french door/window.

GOURMET WEEKEND BREAKS - hassle free weekend - great regional food included.

New for Autumn/Winter 2012 we are delighted to be able to offer gourmet weekend breaks in our luxury one bed 'picardie' gite. We provide breakfast and prepared traditional evening meals, using the very best of local produce, including exquisite patisserie from one of the best local patissiers, a selection of beautiful cheeses sourced locally, a bottle of pink champagne, a bottle of Cote du Rhone, cider and a half bottle of Calvados produced with Normandy apples. You will not need to bring any food or condiments for your breakfast or evening meals. Tea, fresh coffee, fresh orange juice; sugar, butter, jams, salt & pepper, creme fraiche and sauces are all provided in the gite. Freshly baked croissants and baguettes from the local favourite boulangerie are delivered to your door each morning. Everything is fresh, bought daily and of the very best quality. The evening meals are pre-prepared for you to re-heat in the gite kitchen. You can relax and eat breakfast and evening meals at your leisure in the privacy of the dining facilities of the luxury Picardie gite. We take the hassle out of food shopping and save you precious time, so that your weekend can be more relaxing and as we are locals we know where to source the best produce. We have an extensive menu for you to choose from in advance. Our supplement per person is only 50€ per person per night (total supplement for two people for a weekend stay is 200€). There are no hidden supplements for towels, bed linen, tea towels, gas, electricity etc.

The gites are situated in a detached building that shares 2 acres of delightful Normandy countryside with ‘Le Vieux Presbytere’, a 200 year old former presbytery/vicarage. It is in a quiet and pretty lane next to the old church in a traditional Normandy village (population 170). Although secluded it is near a small village tabac, 1.5km from the next village which food shops and just 5 mins from Aumale and the borders of Picardie at the river La Bresle.

The gite building also dates back to 1800 but has recently (2009) been completely renovated to an extremely high standard to offer a superb level of accommodation and comfort.

The kitchens are extremely well equipped with a top of the range stainless steel smeg gas cooker in addition to a full compliment of quality knives, cutlery, crockery and cookware. It is definitely a cook’s kitchen. We are passionate about our food and cooking and wanted to make the kitchens something we would be happy with. You won’t find blunt knives, ineffective cookers and broken crockery here.

Each gite has a private rear garden/terrace with beautiful views over the countryside and a gate that opens onto the garden of the main house that you are very welcome to use.

The gite terraces also have comfortable dining tables and furniture and have charcoal barbecues. There is outside lighting for late night summer dining al fresco.

The nearby town of Aumale has a fantastic outdoor swimming pool plus lovely bars, restaurants and independent food shops. Saturday is market day, where you can see live chickens being sold. Blangy is another nearby town and has a big market on Sunday mornings. A specialist food market can be found every saturday at Neufchatel-en-Bray.

Aumale is on the borders of Normandy and Picardie. Picardie has many notable places to visit. The Picardie coast is full of beautiful sandy beaches, shopping and dining in Amiens should not be missed, beautiful parks and gardens to visit, bike-riding, horse-riding and water sports, museums, and gothic cathedrals.

There are bicycles here for your use, we are situated on a plain (at the top of the hill so great views all round!), so local villages and forests are a very easy level ride. There are big swimming pools in the local towns. The Normandy countryside is genuinely stunning, mile upon mile of rolling hills and huge forests (watch out for the wild boar) and for those so inclined we have some of the best fishing in Normandy. Fantastic trout and sea-trout fishing on La Bresle, a wonderful chalkstream river that flows from Aumale and enters the sea at Le Treport. Andy is very happy to point you in the right direction with concern to the fishing, being a mad keen fly fisher for wild trout! In fact, we are currently negotiating to buy the rights to our very own private trout lake set in a secluded woodland, fed by a chalkstream. We aim to put two boats on this and it will be available free to guests at the gite. watch this space.

Picardie is just over la Bresle river and has many wonderful places to visit to keep all the family happy.

Why Andy Bullock chose Aubeguimont

This property is over 200 years old and there is a lot of history attached. The gites have been converted from the old stables and kitchen to the main house. The owners have maintained as much of the original character as possible without compromising on comfort. The furnishings are of a high standard and include designer furniture and french antique furniture. Beneath the gite building is the original vaulted wine cellar.

To the front of the gite is a beautiful gravel drive with islands of flowers and greenery. Each gite has its own private garden but also access to the presbytery private garden which overlooks open countryside as far as the eye can see.

There is no traffic apart from the occasional tractor that goes by. It is a very peaceful and tranquil place and the only sound that you will hear will be the birds chirping or the nearby church bells.

What makes this cottage unique

Although very rural and surrounded by the beautiful forests of Normandy it is also accessible to many attractions. The nearest motorway is only a 10 minute drive, Amiens and Rouen are only 45 minutes away and there are many attractions for children.

For those who love rambling, cycling or fishing you will be spoilt for choice.

The gites are adjacent to the Vieux Presbytere which was built around 1805. It is truly unique and very beautiful.

An excellent place to stay !

  • 5 of 5
We have just come back from a lovely week at this excellent property which we would very highly recommend. Andy and Beverley really made us very welcome from the moment we arrived and the time went too quickly! Our daughter loved the cats and the hens who were also very friendly! A great place to travel to see the wonderful sights of Normandy.

Again thank you very much for a memorable week.

Very comfortable and friendly gite

  • 5 of 5
Andy and Beverley thoughtfulness made this gite memorable. The gite contained the things that you don't have when you are an overseas traveller, for example, salt, pepper, glad wrap, alfoil, tea bags, soaps, scissors, travel brochures etc. The gite was very comfortable and clean.

Although the gite is located in a very small village which has no facilities, the neighboring village is a few kilometers away and contains very good services. The regular morning visits by the bakery van is great. The bread and croissants were some of the best we had during our travels.

Perfect Late Summer Holiday

  • 5 of 5
This was our first trip to northern France and holidaying in a gite and we were not disappointed. The village of Aubeguimont was easy to reach from Calais and the gite was clean and well appointed, the photos giving an accurate impression of the property. We felt immediately at home. Andy and Beverley are welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts and Andy and our 18 year old hit it off straight away when they discovered their shared passion in music - thanks Andy for giving Will your time, advice and lending him your guitar (we couldn't fit his in the car!). The location is peaceful and relaxing and the tolling of church bells next door at 7 am every morning and nearby cock-a-doodling merely add to its charm. We had some lovely days out namely to Rouen, Gerberoy (officially one of the prettiest villages in France), Dieppe and Eu with its beautiful chateau, all coinciding (luckily) with a dry, warm and sunny spell. Aumale the nearest town and only 10 minutes away by car has supermarkets, petrol stations, restaurants etc. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property which is comfortable and well equipped and located in the most pictoresque countryside. We will seriously be considering a return visit.

Tranquility

  • 5 of 5
A week just didn't seem long enough spent in this lovely tranquil setting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a beautiful part of rural France, easily accessible from Calais. The gite was well equipped and extremely comfortable, made all the more enjoyable by the warm welcome we received by the owners, Andy and Beverly
We were quite happy to spend time relaxing at the gite, or exploring the local countryside on bikes, kindly provided by our hosts (even catered for our 7 year old). It was also great to have access to the large garden where our son was happy to play and make friends with the owners young son Josh and Henry their very friendly dog.
We enjoyed a day out to St valery Sur Somme, Eu and Pegasus Bridge. ( really worth the 2 hour drive). Closer to 'home' Aumale is a lovely town which catered for all our everyday needs. Amiens, Rouen and Albert are also worth a visit.
We definitely hope to return again soon.

Warm welcome and wonderful holiday

  • 5 of 5
Judith and Thomas from Cologne, Germany
We came for a calm summer holiday and that was exactly what we found. We enjoyed it so much to sit in the wonderful main garden under the apple trees and look at the beautiful surroundings. The gite is gemütlich, spacious, clean and well maintained, the kitchen is really complete; everything is as it is described.
The owners gave us a very warm welcome and treated us not as customers but as friends.
The landscape is wonderful, there are so many things to discover- forests, hills, rivers, towns, markets and of course the magnificent cote d´albatre.
One of the most relaxing holidays we ever had.

Nearer to the gite there are also excellent golf courses at Dieppe and Abbeville within a 30 mins drive.

Picardie is also described as a paradise for golfers. Golf de Chantilly, for example, is considered one of the five best clubs in all Europe. Its two 18-hole courses, putting and driving ranges and many other sporting activities are much appreciated by weekender Parisiens.

The living area has a very comfy sofa and armchair. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with a top of the range gas cooker, separate gas hob, fridge in addition to a full compliment of quality knives, cutlery, crockery, glass and cookware. It is definitely a cook’s kitchen. We are passionate about our food and cooking and wanted to make the kitchen something we would be happy with. You won’t find blunt knives, ineffective cookers and an inadequate kitchen here. We have ourselves stayed in too many gites like that, and vowed to make sure that our gites are better than the average. Kitchen basics such as spices, salt & pepper, washing up liquid are all provided for your convenience.
