This stunning home sits on 3 acres located right on the Calawah river, in Forks, Washington. Peace, quiet, tranquility and natures beauty fill the air. The home sleeps 10, with a master loft bedroom and a lower room with bunk beds. The large wrap around porch is perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning, or an after dinner drink in the evening. Sweeping views of the river are enjoyed from the entire main floor. One of the most beautiful spots in Forks.
We are a family of 6 who enjoy hiking, fishing, kayaking and all outdoor activities. It has been our pleasure to own this beautiful home and raise our kids out in nature.
Beth Whelihan purchased this house in 2010
We feel that it is very important to have a place to go and rest. This home was perfect and we knew it the minute we walked in the front door. We are close enough to the town of Forks that we can let the kids walk there, but tucked away on the river where we can enjoy privacy and tranquility too.
It is very quiet and peaceful cabin with wonderful view of th river. But I can't say that it was nice trip. Because two things screwed up my trip.
First, I had not received key instruction before date of arrival. Even though I sent email and called and left a lot of messages, there was no reponse. I arrived at the cabin. The door was locked. I looked around the cabin. I couldn't find any instruction. It was terrible situation in the rain. I tried to find how I contact the ower. Futunately, I found the other number in farm website. Finally I contacted to ower. But I already wasted time in the rain.
Second, A lot of mosquitoes at bedroom in 1st floor. My kids were frightened away when they turned on the light at the bedroom. The other places were OK. But, as soon as I saw the bedroom, I decided to close the door in 1st floor and sleep in the living room.
Frankly speaking, the cabin is really nice without mosquitoes. But I think that the owner needs more care for the cabin in off-season.
Pros: The cabin was immaculate from top to bottom. It was easy to find and there was no problem finding keys, locks, etc. It is located in a quiet residential area right on the river.
Cons: We are a couple in our 70's. Neither of us wanted to sleep upstairs in the master bedroom because there is no bathroom available. One must go down a steep spiral staircase to get to a bathroom and we were uncomfortable with doing this in the middle of the night.
The main floor is also a bit of a problem for older people or disabled renters. There are several small steps, both up and down, which we found to be easy to trip over.
The lowest floor is reached by another steep spiral staircase. It is an apartment with a full kitchen, bunk room and bathroom. We chose to sleep downstairs on the bunk beds because there was a bathroom. That would be fine for kids, but it did not suit our needs.
We went to La Push, Cape Flattery and Neah Bay, where there is a great museum.
I wish we had known there was a steep spiral staircase to the master BR and that there was no bath up there. I would not have rented with those issues.
My friends and I stayed for 5 nights and had an excellent time. Everything you want in a cabin, and I know cabins, being from Minnesota. Very quiet and peaceful property with a beautiful view of the river. The attention to detail and the providing of small extras really makes this place feel like your at your own family's cabin. I highly recommend this rental and would stay there again if ever back to Olympic National Park. The close proximity to everything in Olympic National Park makes this the ideal location for visiting.
We had a wonderful trip, and it made it the best birthday/anniversary trip ever. It was relaxing and gorgeous.
This house had a cozy chalet feel to it. It was very clean, well maintained and comfortable. The location couldn't be beat to visit the venues of Olympic Nat'l Park. I recommend it highly; but because it has various levels, it can be a bit challenging if you are travelling with small children.
We had a lovely stay in this comfortable, clean home in early August. My kids enjoyed the separate space - they thought they had their own apartment downstairs! The owner was kind & efficient. The river was so peaceful.
