Barcelona is my favorite vacation city and I wish for others to enjoy it as well
Centrally located and close to all the popular tourist attractions
Thanks again for everything! We are having a BLAST!!!
Oh--and, yes, the cooking class was at the Barcelona Cooking School (a few blocks east on La Ramblas) and it was Tapas with wine. One of the best parts of it, though, was that the chef first took us to La Boqueria to purchase the ingredients while educating us about the market and meeting the vendors, as well as sharing many historical tidbits about the city in the process. We learned more from him about Barcelona's history in one hour than we have from all the tourist guides we have read in preparation for our visit here! We made meatballs with a Sofrito Sauce, Cod fritters (we learned an amazing amount about salted cod and it's history), and a bread that I would be butchering the name if I tried to write it here. It was a flat bread with anchovies and roasted veggies on top and baked--delicious! Also, rice pudding! Their Rioja-2008--is one of the best we have had in the counry, so far! Corey does NOT cook and only agreed to attend because it would make
me happy....I KNEW he would get a lot out of it if he did and within 30 minutes he stated that he was impressed! For hours after we finished he made many comments on how much he enjoyed it! Today, again, he mentioned what a wonderful experience it was. I encourage you to share with your future renters!
Sue and Matt were wonderful - great communication in advance, and very helpful and friendly. Matt was out of town when we arrived, but Sue made us feel right at home. The small space was perfect for the two of us. The bedroom has three walls of windows, so the light was lovely. The only thing I felt was missing was a shelf or two to unpack. The elevator was great to go up with all our luggage, saving the 110 steps for the way down. The bathroom was quite cramped, but perfectly functional. Good hot shower! The location was ideal, right next to the Sant Antoni market, sadly closed for renovations during our stay, but the temporary market was just as fun. We had grand plans to shop for fresh items at the market and cook, in the perfectly well appointed kitchen, but the apartment is within walking distance of so many fantastic restaurants, that we never got around to it! We stayed in February, so we didn't make much use of the terrace, which only had an hour of sun in the afternoon, but it was a great spot for a quick glass of wine before heading out again. El Raval was a great neighborhood to walk around in, but we often ate in Ciutat Vella and Born. No need for a clock - the nearby bell tower keeps you up to date on the quarter hour, but only from 8 am to 8 pm - perfect vacation hours! We would definitely recommend this apartment.
We left Barcelona with a feeling of sadness due to to the varied experiences we enjoyed during our month there. Clear directions and a warm welcome from Matt at the designated spot boded well. The apartment was well equipped and nicely appointed. Details for a traveller's stay were provided - the small touches that mean so much.
The location was ideal for easy access to the metro, pleasant walks to the popular areas, little shops handy as well as the market at the top of the street. From the initial contact until the day we left Matt and Sue were helpful, informative and thoughtful. Thanks for making our visit such a success.

We had a wonderful stay in this cute, compact apartment! The location was great, just a couple of minutes walk from the Metro, but also within a short walk to many sights. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We loved the rooftop terrace as well. Matthew and Susan are wonderful hosts! We highly recommend this property!
This is a gem of an apartment, one that would be comfortable as a residence year around!
Impeccably clean, very tastefully decorated, with much thought as well, for a traveler's needs. The bedroom is unique, surrounded by windows on 3 walls, with views (when desired) of church steeples and mountains). The sunny terrace is a wonderful plus, along with a welcome gift of wine! Matt was very helpful, and easily reachable. The location was surprisingly close to all the tourist sites in the center of Barcelona. I will surely book this for any future stays in Barcelona!
We had excellent service from Matt, who met us at a predetermined location when we arrived in Barcelona. He walked us to the apartment and explained how everything worked. We were also greeted with a bottle of very nice wine. The one bedroom apartment worked very nicely for us. We were able to walk everywhere in Barcelona from there. It was very centrally located. The shower was very good and had an excellent hair dryer. The cable television allowed us to keep up with national news. As we did not have a phone, it was essential to have wifi; it had fast speed. As the apartment was on the top floor, it was great having a terrace with two chairs and a table. Also, the apartment had a washer, and we were able to hang our clothes in the portable clothes hanger that was available. On the day we left, Matt walked us to the bus stop that took us to the airport. He was extremely personable and treated us so very nicely. We very much enjoyed our stay at the apartment.
We enjoyed Matt's apartment immensely. It was exactly as advertised and a wonderful place to return to after a day of sightseeing. It is clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Matt was a delight to work with from start to finish. I highly recommend staying in this apartment.
