Helpful Management Saved Our Day

My husband and I found out a couple of days before the Fourth of July weekend that we needed to travel to Philadelphia on short notice. I contacted this property the afternoon before the 4th, & received an immediate response from the manager. She and the owner were very amenable to our coming on such short notice, even on the holiday. From the photos I thought this would be the perfect place for us; my primary concern when traveling is the air quality of the property, as I have terrible indoor mold allergies. This place did not disappoint--it has been recently refurbished, and is sunny and airy. Hardwood floors, stainless steel counters, etc. I didn't have the slightest reaction upon entering, even with the air conditioner running and the windows closed (it was 100 degrees out), which is rare in an older building. The property is only a block off South Street, so we were prepared for a lot more street noise than we got...it was actually very peaceful at night. We love to be outside, so the best part for us was the large outdoor deck...we loved having coffee in the morning and wine in the evening there--perfect for reading, chilling, and even grilling. The location is perfect for making the best of a South Philly-Queen Village-Bella Vista stay. Buses run right outside the apartment, and we easily walked all over the city from this location. The only challenge to staying here is S Philly parking, which is always an issue. If you drive, be prepared to pay very close attention to parking signs, and to move your car every 2 hours, or pay for lot parking. Coming from Boston, where you can't park period, we were grateful to find even inconvenient on-street parking. And we were out and about so much that moving the car wasn't that big a deal. (You can leave it in one spot overnight, starting at 6 p.m. on some streets and midnight on others.) There's no t.v., but we don't watch it so it didn't bother us. The only thing we would have wanted that we didn't have was a serious coffeemaker for our caffeine habits, rather than a French press. As this a new vacation rental, the owner and manager are fairly new to it, so I was surprised at how smoothly everything went. I can't imagine that, if you find yourself needing something that isn't there, they wouldn't help you out. The owner called us from his own Fourth holiday to make sure we were set. Thanks, Kevin, for the awesome restaurant recs! And thank you Breezy for making it happen for us. We'd definitely stay again.
