Why Cristina Perachio chose Philadelphia

I moved to South Philadelphia in 2006 and fell in love with the neighborhood's charm. It is quiet and friendly, having a personal feel, while still being steps away from the many exciting sights and features offered in a big city. The restaurants, bars, and nightlife nearby boast some of the best stops in the city. Philadelphia has a wonderful history and vibrant nightlife. This apartment and neighborhood lets you explore it with ease.

What makes this studio unique

This bright, corner apartment, has a wonderful outdoor patio space, perfect for unwinding on summer nights and looking out into Queen Village. The modern European design and high ceilings make the space feel open and inviting.

Also, we would be happy to share our family's personal favorite restaurants, shops, and sites! We are just a phone call away!

Excellent stay in Philly

The apartment was very clean and looked exactly like the photos. the location is excellent. My girlfriend and I were very comfortable int he space. I plan on going back to philly again this winter and will rent this apartment again before even considering a hotel.

Our hosts were very communicative. They met us there when we arrived and went to great pains to ensure we were comfortable and and answer any questions we had. they also said don't hesitate to call.

I went up to run in the Philly half-marathon and wanted to stick around afterwards to see some of Philly. They let me check out late with no problems at all.

Thanks again.

Great Location and Hospitality

Like a crazy person, I took my 2 kids ages 2 and 5 to Sesame and the Philly Zoo by myself. The owner was out of town, so he had his son meet me upon arrival. He was so kind and helped me get the bags out of the car and find parking (I had no idea that Philly is like NYC with parking). The owner checked in with me daily to make sure I was okay and to see if I needed any tourist information or recommendations. I would love to go back with an adult and stay. It was walking distance to the Phlash as well as many cool restaurants. I was able to walk to Jim's steaks. I also highly recommend Capogiro for gelato (about 1 1/2 miles away). I would definitely stay here again in the future.

Follow-up Review, Second Stay

Was back in Philadelphia apartment hunting and once again made a last-minute reservation. Had terrible weather all the way down on the drive, and the owner was so nice about it--I was super late, and had to keep calling to delay my arrival. He was totally nonplussed, and was very warm and understanding when I finally dragged in. I agree with the other reviewer that a micro and a few more towels would be helpful (and a real coffee maker), but even without them this rental is hands-down a winner in the categories of location, cleanliness, price, outside space, and the pleasant and attentive service of the manager and owner. Thank you once again for your kind help--staying with you made this move to Philadelphia a heckuva lot nicer and easier.

Charming studio, great location

First and foremost, the owner could not have been more accomodating. His property is a wonderful one bedroom studio but not sure how more than 2 people could stay there. It has a sweet kitchen area but be sure to bring your own wine opener (we were going to leave one and forgot). Also, no microwave to heat up leftovers. The area is rife with superb restaurants starting with Ela which is directly across the street--would highly recommend it. If you look closely in the pictures of the property, you will notice there are very few curtains--lots of street lights at night and no way to block them--the neighborhood is fairly quiet at night. Queen Village is a nice part of Philly and I bought some great fabric on Fabric Row. It is a 2nd floor apartment whose stairs are fairly steep. Washer and dryer worked well and made this choice so much more convenient than a hotel. The previous review talked about street parking but we never had a problem and we never paid for parking--which is a bonus! The best part was the small balcony where we had coffee in the morning but there is a large cat lurking around there and I am not a cat fan. The studio is spotless--including the bathroom which could have had more than 2 towels and lacked a hair dryer. Overall, it was a great place to spend 4 nights and we felt it was a bargain.

Helpful Management Saved Our Day

5 of 5
Submitted: July 9, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
My husband and I found out a couple of days before the Fourth of July weekend that we needed to travel to Philadelphia on short notice. I contacted this property the afternoon before the 4th, & received an immediate response from the manager. She and the owner were very amenable to our coming on such short notice, even on the holiday. From the photos I thought this would be the perfect place for us; my primary concern when traveling is the air quality of the property, as I have terrible indoor mold allergies. This place did not disappoint--it has been recently refurbished, and is sunny and airy. Hardwood floors, stainless steel counters, etc. I didn't have the slightest reaction upon entering, even with the air conditioner running and the windows closed (it was 100 degrees out), which is rare in an older building. The property is only a block off South Street, so we were prepared for a lot more street noise than we got...it was actually very peaceful at night. We love to be outside, so the best part for us was the large outdoor deck...we loved having coffee in the morning and wine in the evening there--perfect for reading, chilling, and even grilling. The location is perfect for making the best of a South Philly-Queen Village-Bella Vista stay. Buses run right outside the apartment, and we easily walked all over the city from this location. The only challenge to staying here is S Philly parking, which is always an issue. If you drive, be prepared to pay very close attention to parking signs, and to move your car every 2 hours, or pay for lot parking. Coming from Boston, where you can't park period, we were grateful to find even inconvenient on-street parking. And we were out and about so much that moving the car wasn't that big a deal. (You can leave it in one spot overnight, starting at 6 p.m. on some streets and midnight on others.) There's no t.v., but we don't watch it so it didn't bother us. The only thing we would have wanted that we didn't have was a serious coffeemaker for our caffeine habits, rather than a French press. As this a new vacation rental, the owner and manager are fairly new to it, so I was surprised at how smoothly everything went. I can't imagine that, if you find yourself needing something that isn't there, they wouldn't help you out. The owner called us from his own Fourth holiday to make sure we were set. Thanks, Kevin, for the awesome restaurant recs! And thank you Breezy for making it happen for us. We'd definitely stay again.
