Le Lavay is a traditional stone gascon farmhouse dating back to 1849. The house has been fully renovated to a very high standard. The house is located in a private and secluded location and is set on a hilltop with magnificent unspoilt views of rolling gascon countryside. The grounds extend to almost 3 acres, mainly grass, and offers total privacy, The 3 double bedrooms are all simply but elegantly furnished. All have cream iron beds and luxury cotton bed linen. All have open views over the surrounding countryside. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with all mod cons and large granite work surfaces. The kitchen is at one end of an enormous 60ft open plan room with exposed beams. The dining area is at the far end, with a large oak dining table as the central feature. This room opens out onto the terrace where we have a 10 seater teak table for outdoor dining. There is a large 11m x 5m private pool with roman steps with six wooden sunloungers and parasols.

The region of Gascony is renown for its picturesque rolling countryside, fields of sunflowers, and extensive vineyards - known as the Tuscany of France. Our local village is Castéra-Verduzan, 2 miles away. Castéra offers a wide range of shops and services which include: mini-supermarket; butchers, bakers, tabac, post office, tourist office, ATM, 2 bars, 3 restaurants, bike hire, petrol station, chemist, beauty salon, hairdressers and a casino... everything you could possibly need! The main two attractions in Castéra are the large watersports lake and the thermal spas. The lake is great for children offering large water slides, sailing, canoeing, swimming, and pedalos as well as a snack bar. The thermal health spa is a real treat offering a range of relaxation therapies. From Le Lavay you can easily visit a number local medieval, bastide towns and villages such as Fleurance, Lectoure, Condom, & Laverdens each offering charming restaurants, festivals, churches, markets..

  • The modern bathroom is large and light with a double sink and WC and a huge bath with shower over and a separate power shower cubicle. The bathroom has modern villeroy and boch fittings and there is ample storage for towels and suncream! Downstairs there is a separate WC

  • Bedrooms are simply furnished in cream with double iron beds and luxury cotton and duck down pillows & quilts. All have extensive space for hanging clothes and all look out on to the rolling countryside below or the lavender and pool area to the front of the house. Windows are double glazed and all have traditional wooden shutters. The bedrooms are all light and airy. You do need to bring your own pool towels but thick fluffy bathroom towels are provided. Bed linen and towels are included in the rate and if staying more than one week are changed weekly at no extra charge. Our housekeeper will come at the end of each week to replace bedding and towels and to do a weekly clean, also included.

Notes: The large 11 x 5m pool, in full sun, has roman steps and a fitted safety alarm and 6 wooden loungers and parasols,overlooking the fields. There is a winter sitting room with books, a comfy sofa and a huge open fire place, and a woodshed to help yourself to in winter.The kitchen and dining area is furnished in cream with an oak floor and has 3 double doors leading on to the terrace and is perfect for chatting whilst you cook. The kitchen is very well equipped with utensils and cookbooks, white crockery and a selection of glassware. There is a cream 3 piece suite and coffee table set around another wood burning stove for winter nights. The overall feeling is light and spacious. The terrace area has a BBQ,wooden table, 8 chairs and a large parasol- it is totally private with only the sound of deer and frogs and the hum of the occasional combine harvester. It overlooks fields of sunflowers and wheat. At night, Chateau Lavardens, 8km away, is lit up in the distance.
