HEART OF THE SENECA LAKE WINE TRAIL, FOODIE PARADISE

Hector Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

Year-round Rental on Seneca Lake Wine Trail, Finger Lakes, NY

Conveniently located in Hector, NY, on the east side of Seneca Lake. This beautifully renovated farmhouse cottage is bordered on two sides by vineyards owned by Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards. During warmer months, enjoy a glass of wine sitting on the large back deck while surrounded by cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc grape vines. Or sit on the wrap-around porch and enjoy the cool shade and wonderful breeze. For winter rentals, the house is fully insulated, heated, and has a propane gas fireplace in the living room for a cozy winter stay.

Inside you will find hardwood floors throughout the dining and living rooms, a newly renovated kitchen with gas range, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator with in-the-door ice and water. A few steps down from the kitchen is a cozy sunroom - perfect for morning coffee! The large full bathroom includes a washer and dryer for our guests' convenience. The second floor features two bedrooms with an incredible view of the vineyards and Seneca Lake from the master bedroom.

“Hector Vineyard Cottage” sleeps four to six persons – two in each bedroom, and two on the living room futon (with a comfy 10' mattress!). A small cot is available if needed. Bedrooms feature two twin beds that can be set up as separate twins or put together as a king-size bed with a comfy king-size mattress pad - just let us know what you prefer!

A complimentary bottle of wine and winery coupons are provided to guests. Other amenities: Clean linens (sheets, pillow cases, blankets, mattress pads) provided. Public water. Charcoal grill (don't forget your charcoal), dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, ironing board and iron. Basic paper products supplied. Basic satellite TV service, excellent cell coverage area.

Hector Wine Company is just across Route 414 – perfect for walking over to enjoy their weekend live music and a glass of wine on their patio. Kirton’s Farm Market is a short walk for fresh, local produce, jellies, flowers and homemade pork or chicken BBQ.

Some of Seneca Lake’s best-known wineries and restaurants are all within less than five miles from the cottage including Wagner Vineyards & the Ginny Lee Cafe, Sheldrake Point on Seneca, Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards, Leidenfrost Vineyards, Stonecat Cafe, Red Newt Wine Cellars & Bistro, Damiani Wine Cellars, Atwater Vineyards, Two Goats Brewing, and Finger Lakes Distilling. Enjoy wine tasting, live music and other “off-hour” events hosted by the wineries and restaurants. Hector truly is a 'foodie paradise'!

Although we do not have lake access, Smith Memorial Park is just a mile away with a public boat launch, swimming beach, picnic facilities and a small playground. Lodi Point is about 10 minutes north, Clute Memorial Park is 10 minutes south, and Watkins Glen State Park is just 15-20 minutes away.

We fell in love with the Hector Vineyard Cottage because of its charm. With beautiful hardwood floors, a huge new deck overlooking the vineyards and its location to so many of our favorite wineries and restaurants, we knew right away it was a gem! There really is no better location on Seneca Lake!

LOCATION!!

  • 5 of 5
This cottage was great, the location is perfect and the house is very clean and well stocked down to the coffee filters. Loved the wrap around porch and the view out the back. We visited many wineries saving Hector for our last day. If we had gone there first we would have been back every day! Jen at Hector suggested the Stone Cat café for dinner so glad she did we enjoyed the real mountain music there as well as great food. This review is running long hope it all prints so future clients will know what a great place this is! Thanks to the owners for attention to detail.

Was very pleased with the location across the road from Hector's Winery. Loved the locale of residents in the area. Also the owner was very accommodating with my Service Dog. Property was well kept and clean. An A+ from us.

HEART OF THE SENECA LAKE WINE TRAIL

  • 5 of 5
This little farmhouse was beautiful and neat as a pin and set in a beautiful setting right in the middle of a vineyard and in view of Seneca Lake. Winery right across the street that we walked to, which had good wine and live music of Friday night. We had 5 adults in our party and we fit in nicely. The 2 king size beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything that you needed. Fouton in living room was fairly comfortable. Only having 1 bathroom could have been a problem but we managed fine. Bedding was supplied but bring your own towels. Wonderful place. Hope we can stay there again.

2 YEARS IN A ROW - VERY SATISFIED!

  • 5 of 5
The house is perfect for 5-6 people. It's got all the basics that you need. It's clean and comfortable, and the location is perfect - right across the street from the Hector Wine Company. My friends and I have rented it for 2 years in a row now and are definitely coming back next year.

NICE COZY RETREAT - TONS OF WINE!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in the cabin for a couple nights in the "off-season" NOV/DEC timeframe for a couples weekend. During this time of year the scenery was pretty but a little stark. However, I'm sure its gorgeous during the summer season with the added greenery etc.

The cabin itself is clean and quaint, perfect for a low key break from urban life. It's two bedrooms were sufficient for myself and the other couple that joined us for the trip. It sits amidst vineyards that belong to the surrounding wineries, making it's location ideal for wine tasting. The closest winery is across the street and even has live music on some weekend nights! While you feel isolated from the hustle and bustle of the tourist scene, it's location is not too far from the more populated towns in the area, making it easy to slip in and out of town for a quick dinner. Throughout the trip I felt that the cabin's location was ideal.

The one quip I have is that it took a few weeks for our security deposit to be returned. This complaint was overridden by the fact that in the mail we received not only the keys to the cabin, but maps of the surrounding area, guides to wine tasting in the Finger Lakes, and coupons for complimentary wine tasting at four local wineries! The management put forth an unexpected but welcome amount of effort to ensure our vacation to the Finger Lakes was enjoyable!

I'm not sure about the rules for pets (we brought none) nor would I advise visiting this location without a car for seeing the local sites. Outside of those two things, I would recommend this property for almost any demographic, and especially for people who have an interest in wine tasting.

Owner's Response: Thank you! We do try to get the security deposits back out within two weeks of the conclusion of our guests' stay. We're sorry yours took a little longer. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to host you again!
