Cheap? but not cheerful.

When we saw the add for this property, we thought it offered everything we were looking for, for our annual christmas holiday in Florida.
However when we arrived, which was quite late (approx 10pm) we were looking forward to a nice cup of tea. However what did we find waiting for us-nothing. Every other villa we have stayed previously had a small welcome pack of water, milk, tea, coffee, sugar , juice and cookies. Although this had not been mentioned, we assumed that this is done as a matter of course. WRONG.
Also- no washing up liquid, no soap, sponges or any cleaning materials available. We had to go purchase everything the following morning. It would be nice if these things were there and a letter for the guests to replace as they are used. All of the items we purchased were left for future guests.
The water in the pool was freezing and we had to contact a number provided by the owner to have the heating put on the following day. We were told it would then take up to 48 hours before it was warm enough for use and problems with the heater during our stay deprived us of all but three days use.
No Christmas deco anywhere.
The villa was clean and well furnished but the facilities were very basic. No extra pillows, no blankets and just seven towels( the number of us in our party.) No hand towels provided.
The bare essentials were provided but having been used to really well stocked cupboards in the past, we were a little disappointed.
No pool cover to keep in heat, no inflatables to play in pool-we bought our own and left them for future visitors along with extra towels and some blankets.
There was no information booklets/ flyers on anything going on locally - no useful numbers of restaurants/ takeaways etc- no recommendations, only the management company booklet.
Maybe during the summer months, the pool may have sunshine but we certainly had none and the sun shone directly on the front all day.
There should have been a barbecue, but if there was we could not find one, nor was there a safety fence for children.
The location was difficult to find as we had been given no directions only the address. The villa was indeed only a short drive from the highway 192 but it was at the far east end closer to St Cloud than Kissimmee.
The good things-comfortable furniture but beware of ants, lots of them.
The bathroom was lovely.
A bit more thought ,consideration and honesty would make the difference of being an okay holiday to being a great one.
