This is not your average holiday accommodation - for a start there aren't TVs in every room, (in fact it's hard to find one at all!), but if you want to come here to watch TV then we'd prefer you saved your money in any case. This is a place that's special, somewhere where dreams come true ... in short, Paradise, and being in Portugal that's what gave us our name, Paradise in Portugal!

Details for The Quinta 9 Bedrooms, Sleeps 26, 9 Bathrooms

The Quinta comprises 10 bedrooms sleeping up to 26 or so. One part can be rented as a small villa of 3 centrally heated bedrooms, all en suite and all with a view to die for. The rooms can be reserved together for groups or families or individually for couples or singles. The main drawing room and dining room has a Log burner. The bedrooms are well insulated. The gardens that stretch to the lake are a delight with loads of little cubby holes to hide away in and masses of space and nooks and crannies for the children to explore. Boats included in the price of your room. Massage available on site as an extra, but the Sauna is free. Birdwatching / Nature Guide available on site with prices depending upon the length of the outing preferred. Good Quality food prepared on site using, as far as possible, local organic produce, much of it from the Quinta's own gardens. The style is 'International Home Cooking'; there's lashing of it - you wont go hungry - and it's not from packets.

The Quinta is on the shores of Santa Clara Lake, one of the largest, warmest and cleanest freshwater lakes in Europe. It has amazing privacy and is set in unspoilt countryside 13 kms from Santa Clara, a small village nestling in the wild hills of the lower Alentejo. Though this is not a venue where there is a nightclub round the corner or English pubs down the road it's surprisingly easy to get to; it's only a little over an hour from Faro International Airport, (one of the cheapest in Europe), but seems a million miles away from the 'normal' world. There's a railway station only 15 minutes away, but once you're at the Quinta you could be forgiven for thinking you're on a desert island - there's absolutely no traffic noise .... or any noise at all come to think of it apart from the birds and bees! It's a place where you can truly relax and be yourself away from all the hurly burly and stress of a normal destination; it really is Paradise in Portugal!

Additional information about rental rates

  • The prices quoted here are per room for 2 people. Every extra person in a room occupying another bed, (excluding Babies under 3), costs 25 euros at any time of year.
    Andorinha has a large double bed in the main room with a tiny adjoining room which has a bunk bed. It's charged for a total occupancy of 2 people at 100 euros in low season, 135 in mid and 165 in High. Weekly occupation is 525 in low season, 699 in mid and 863 in high. The bunk bed is charged if occupied at 25 per person.
    Javali and Borbaleta are two larger rooms inter-connecting through a shared bathroom forming Family accommodation. Javali has a large double bed while Borbaleta has two single beds and a bunk. The two rooms are charged for a total occupancy of 2 people, (like Andorinha, above), with every extra person costing 25 euros.

  • A lovely breakfast is included in our prices as well as the use of the bicycles, pedaloes, canoes, sailing dinghy and wood-fired sauna.

  • Andorinha is a large room that has a very small adjoining one just large enough for a bunk bed. We call it our Honeymoon Suite as it's just as good for this as for a Family with Small Children; it has a totally private terrace and garden for added Privacy and Security. Aguia is our smallest room though funnily enough it has our largest bath - don't ask me how that one came about! Abertada is a nice room with a smallish bathroom. All these rooms are centrally heated, but Andorinha has a small wood burner as well.
