Los Dos Pajaros (The Two Birds) is at the top of the oldest and prettiest road in the village. This unique property has been built as an 'upside-down' house with the living area upstairs to take full advantage of the natural rocky terrain and magnificent views From a spacious hall the stairs lead up to the living area . Arched entrances lead to a modern fitted kitchen and to a large lounge/dining area with a real “wow” factor. There is natural rock wall with small cave - this is where you will find the two birds! There is a comfortable seating area and dining furniture for 6 persons. The space is enhanced, as is the whole house, with paintings, art posters and ethnic artefacts. Patio doors lead to a large half-covered terrace, where you will find everything you need for al fresco living, including a second dining area. An attractive roof garden is set against a backdrop of the hills around. For cooling off in summer there is a tub set into the rock with seating for 4 and a shower.

Montecorto, situated on the edge of the beautiful Grazalema National Park, is one of the 'pueblos blancos' (white villages) which are amongst the prettiest in Spain. The views are spectacular, and in cooler months the area has some of the best walking in Europe. Just a short drive away is the extraordinary Roman theatre. The Pileta cave with some of Europe's best cave paintings is also nearby. Historic Ronda can be reached in fifteen minutes by car and is one of Spain's most spectacular towns. To stay in this friendly village is to witness the real Spain, a world away from the crowds and commercialism of the “Costa.” The village has everything for your needs with bars (some of which serve reasonably priced tapas), two small general stores, two bread shops and a fish shop. For eating out there is a restaurant at the edge of the village. There is also a bank and a garage. For summer visits there is lovely swimming pool, just 3 minutes walk from the property.

  • The two ensuite bathrooms follow a simple white theme. The bath areas are fully tiled and are equipped with over-bath showers with curtains. In each there is an attractive built-in, tiled vanity unit with set-in round basins, with wall mirrors above and additional lighting. As the bathrooms are on the ground floor, there is very good water pressure to provide a powerful power shower. In fact, you will probably only need half pressure! Although the baths are less than full size, they are still big enough for the essential soak after a walk in the park! Both ensuites have matching white toilets.

  • Two ensuite bedrooms lead off from the arched entrance hall. Both bedrooms have high ceilings and white walls creating a feeling of space and calm, enhanced by a tasteful décor and carefully chosen textiles and artefacts. The spacious master bedroom has a double bed with bedside tables complete with attractive lighting. Both the wardrobe and marble topped dressing table (with mirror and additional lighting) are white stone built Spanish Style with attractive curtains. There is also a large chest of drawers providing ample storage. An African theme is created with authentic bed and wall-hangings. The second bedroom has twin beds, also furnished with the same bedside tables and lamps. If requested, the beds can be put together to form a King-size bed. There is a curtained “Spanish” wardrobe and in an alcove, a marble-topped vanity unit (with mirror and lighting) and pullout storage unit. In this bedroom too, there is a colourful bed-hanging and picture to set off the neutral theme.

Safety: 1 Fire. Fire is a particular risk in the dry and hot Andalusian area. Take care with the gas cooker and the wood burning stove in the lounge. Candles and oil lamps should not be used inside the house. No smoking is allowed in the house; it is allowed outside on the terrace, however. Radiators must not be covered - safety instructions are beside each one. 2 Gas. Gas is used for the cooker and the water heater. Gas bottles are located beside the cooker. As with any gas appliance, care should be taken when using them or when changing gas bottles. 3 Heating. Electric eco wall heaters must not be covered with clothes nor anything placed too near them This will cause damage and may result in fire. The door of the wood burning stove must be kept shut when in use. 4 Child Policy The house is not suitable for very young children; from the age of 4 -5 years they will love the house but will require adult supervision on the terrace and stairs. 5 Animals Pets are not allowed.

Utilities: 1 Water. Water is very scarce in Andalusia and it should be used with that in mind. Please do not use more than you need for a comfortable stay. 2 Electricity. Electricity is expensive in this area. Please do not use more than you need for a comfortable stay. 3 Heating. The house has a wood burning stove, and also has electric eco wall heaters in the lounge and bedrooms. 4 Internet. There is no computer in the house, and no internet access except through personal wireless connections. 5 Telephone. There is excellent reception for mobile phones. 6 Radio/TV. A satellite TV (free-to-air UK channels) and a DVD player are available, and a mini hi-fi system. 7 Valuables. The owner cannot take responsibility for any loss or damage to belongings during your stay. However, Montecorto is a very safe village. 8 Cleaning Every Saturday (after checkout time) the house will be cleaned. For stays longer than a week, there will be a change of bed linen and towels weekly.
