That good we went twice.

Terribear Slough
Review Submitted: November 19, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This cottage holds a very special place in our hearts, we stayed for the week we got married and then returned a year later for our anniversary. The cottage is so well equipped and with such beautiful surroundings that we spent many a happy evening relaxing, which was lucky as there isn't really a pub nearby that you can walk to. That is the only negative thing I can say. I love the chickens that visited our doorstep every day for a treat and whistle's daily visit was so sweet.
Beer (the village that is) became our favourite place to eat both during the day and for our anniversay evening meal. The Italian restaurant and the Indian restaurant are very nice we highly recommend these, also nice pubs in this village looking out over the harbour.
The Machin family are very obliging and will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable, you are always welcome to join in the feeding of the animals which is a big plus if you have children, but they will also leave you to enjoy your stay.
My husband and I have stayed in many cottages in Devon over the years and this one is the only one we have stayed in twice and would most definitely stay again in the future.

Windover Farm Cottage - Very Highly Recommended!

Review Submitted: October 22, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
My partner and I enjoyed a perfect long weekend at Windover Farm Cottage. The cottage itself is exactly as it appears in the photos - it is superbly equipped and very clean. It strkes a great balance between maintaining traditional features and providing all the mod cons you need. We particularly enjoyed coming back to the log burner in the living room after a day out walking or sightseeing. The area in which the cottage is located is beautiful and cottage has great views from every window. You certainly feel like you are in the midst of the countryside with the hens in the garden and the sheep opposite! The real value and recommendation with this cottage is in the extras; the fabulous sponge cake which is freshly baked, the sausages, the eggs, the milk, the fresh flowers and the welcome from Sarah.
The nearest pub or restaurant is just under a couple of miles away so you do need to have a car to get about. I would have no hesitation in returning to Windover Farm Cottage and would recommend it to couples and families.

IDYLLIC RURAL SETTING

Albert and carolyn Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
Review Submitted: October 20, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
The cottage surpassed our expectations and the setting was wonderful. Much has been written already about the cleanliness, the setting, the welcome, chickens supplying fresh eggs and the farm generally. All of that true, but just as important was the willingness of Sarah and Sheamus to bend over backwards to ensure that our stay was perfect.

We spent two weeks at Windover Cottage and would recommend it andthe Machins to anybody.

A Special Place in My Life

Penkridge Staffordshire
Review Submitted: October 18, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
The above title was what our 10 year old son wrote about during one of his lessons in school about his holiday at Windover Farm Cottage. I think this just about somes it up.

The cottage is in one of the most idyllic situations you can ever imagine. Surrounded by rolling countryside and the Blackdown Hills it is somewhere to get away from everything but have a thoroughly enjoyable time too.

The hospitality you receive from the Sarah and Sheamus is second to none and the gifts on arrival are very welcoming. The friendship they then offer during your break is appreciated and treasured.

Everything you could want for in a holiday home is provided to a very high standard and impeccably kept.

The chickens in the garden and the pigs and cows in the neighboring field add to the experience of life in the country and are especially appreciated by children of all ages who are encouraged to help with feeding and egg collecting.

The cottage situated in a fantastic area to walk in and yet not too far to travel to the sea or nearby towns and attractions.

Thanks for a fantastic holiday, as you know we will definitely be back.

Beauitiful idyllic cottage in the country

hannybabes West Sussex
Review Submitted: October 16, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
This cottage was as accurately described. Set out in the country with beautiful views across the hills in a quite location. Ideal if you want to get away from it all.
The cottage was clean and tidy with all mod cons and a lovely log burner for those cold evenings.
For an additonal cost you can request a breakfast hamper, of different sizes, which contains some essentials, which is handy if you arrive late like us, and a lovely homemade cake which was our favourite. It's also handy and a real novelty collecting your own eggs every morning from your own chckens at the bottom of the garden.
The only minor drawback was the lack of mobile phone signal.
There is a tesco nearby in the town and some takeaways but there is a local one in the village along with a pub and a small shop. You will have to use the car alot as its a bit of a trek on foot into the village with lots of hills as well.
We visited the local National Trust properties and used some the local maps in the cottage for some local walks.
We had very relaxing week and would definitely recommed it to anyone
