Guestbook comments from the owner

Just a quick note to say that we really enjoyed our stay at your house. On our arrival, we found Rosa to be very welcoming and very helpful. Fornalutz is a beautiful place and it was great to return to your house at the end of the day after our various excursions. It was also nice to be near the main square for when we wanted to eat out or just while away an hour in one of the Bar/Restaurants.

Pretty house in beautiful Fornalutx

  • 5 of 5
My friends and me enjoyed our one-week stay at the pretty house of Amy and Miguel very much! We loved cooking in the cute citchen, chatting in the little patio and chillig out at the roof terrasse. From there you look over the old houses of beautiful Fornalutx and one has a good view on the Tramuntana mountains. Beeing equipped with everything necessary for feeling comfortable in the house, it's like being at home - just quieter ;)
With renting a car (recommended!) we could easily explore the island. The detailed information provided by Amy and Miguel helped us a lot for the orientation.
If possible, we definitely will come back!

Thanks a lot for everything and best wishes from Leipzig, Germany!

(Prädikat: besonders wertvoll und absolut empfehlenswert!)

Tranquility and Convenience

  • 5 of 5
The house is situated just off the heart of the local square. It boasts beauty, tranquility, convenience but also safety. We were happy to allow our seven year old and (very young) thirteen year old out on their own to buy fresh pastries and fruits for breakfast every day. You are at the heart of this very picturesque traditional village square within a few seconds walk from the house. The square offers a couple of coffee shops, a bakery, convenience store (where the children bought carrier bays of fresh fruit everyday for just a few euros), some nice restaurants and a very pretty church. We had no problems entertaining the children during our stay at all and the locals were very welcoming and friendly. The house itself is very traditional Catalan in its style and design. It is very spacious and yet maintains an almost intimate feel to it. We loved our holiday there and will certainly stay there again, in fact our seven year old was in floods of tears as she really did not want to leave (certainly something that I have never seen her do before).
I would definitely recommend this house for a holiday to anybody at all (unless you struggle with stairs). We loved every second of our stay and are looking forward to returning next year.

Magical Location

We can thoroughly recommend this absolutely charming house. We had a wonderful stay in the lovely village of Fornalutx. Location and weather were both top notch. It's changed our perceptions of Mallorca as a holiday destination, and we'll definitely be back soon.

October Majorca

Repeat visitor to this property. Always love this house, especially its situation just near the square and parking. The views are great, and the few restaurants in this village are really above the usual fare. Sea food paella here is so expertly done. Mountain drives and walks are accessed very well from here. Ideal for mountain explorers. Recommended.

Nice to be back

  • 5 of 5
We're very happy that this fine old house is open again for rentals - we missed you last year! The place was even more beautiful than we remembered from our previous visit, and the views from the terrace were stunning.
The owners were friendly and helpful as ever.
We have stayed in Fornalutx many times, and always find new things to do. This year we discovered the village museum (what a gem!) and also found a free wi-fi network available just down the road, in the cafe S'aturada. Very nice for relaxing and watching the world go by while picking up your emails...
Also, we spent lots of time at the Port de Soller, where there have been many improvements to the promenade and beaches. The tram is running again, and it's possible to walk from one end of the bay to the other on the lovely new walkway.
We thoroughly recommend the house and the village to all travellers. Where else can you enjoy brilliant walks and hikes, clean mountain air, and relaxing in the sleepy town square, yet all just 10 minutes drive away from one of the nicest beach resorts in Mallorca?

Owner's Response: Hi John,
many thanks for your kind review. We feel very lucky to own such a beautiful house in this lovely village, and are always thrilled to hear that guests have enjoyed staying there as much as we do.
Thanks for your tips on things to do around Fornalutx. Port Soller has always been a charming resort, but has recently been improved even further thanks to local government investment. As you say - the area really does seem to have something for everyone.
We do hope you will visit us again next year,
Miguel and Amy

BEST KEPT SECRET

  • 5 of 5
Have now visited Fornalutx four times in the past four years and can not wait for my next visit.I agree with all the comments made by the other reviewers on the beauty of Fornalutx and the lovely family house that is Sa Costera.
Although a car is recommended it is still possible to get around using public transport especially if you are not in a rush and you do not have a young family.Buses/coaches are cheap, reliable and clean.
One of my favourite journeys using public transport is to catch the train from Soller to Palma.Once there you must visit the Cathedral and then wander around Old Palma taking in all the sights eg Placa Major.
If you are feeling energetic and want a good walk I would recommend the stunning views provided by the reservoir at Panta DeS Cuba.
A easier shorter walk is to walk to Biniraux, have a coffee and then walk back to Fornalutx which will take you 2 hours at the maximum.
If you are at Port de Soller and you do not fancy a swim then take a walk up to the lighthouse and look at the splendid views across the bay.
The stupendous views from the Mirador restaurant have already been noted but I would recommend the uphill walk to reach it,have a quality meal and walk back downhill to Fornalutx.
Take a drive along the West Coast and visit towns like Valldemossa whichstill retains plenty of charm if you steer clear of the main street which has become rather commercialised.
If you are looking for a leisurely break then Fornalutx ticks all the boxes. You can spend a lot of time in the square drinking coffee/eating baguettes watching the world go by before returning to Sa Costera, going to the roof terrace and having a large herbes!

Recommended for walkers,cyclists,boys/girls getaway,families with children,55+age group,burnt out adults.

Situated in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana, in a spectacular valley that starts from the Puig Major and descends towards Soller, Fornalutx has been described as 'the prettiest village in Spain'. Set in a tranquil valley of orange and lemon orchards, Fornalutx is only 15 minutes away from a sandy beach at Port de Soller, and half an hour from the beautiful city of Palma. The area around Fornalutx is particularly popular with cyclists and hikers who enjoy exploring the wide selection of nearby trails. The village itself is very picturesque and has won several awards for conservation. The pretty village square is surrounded by an old church and several cafes, and the village boasts a number of very good restaurants serving local and continental food.
