My husband grew up right here on Ft. Myers beach in a huge log cabin, the wood was shipped over by a barge. He still has a lot of friends here that also grew up on the beach so pretty much anything that you would need to know about the beach he knows the history. As for myself I'm originally from St. Louis Mo. but have lived here for 26 years so I feel like a local. We live he on the island and have for 15yrs.
My husband grew up on the island and I really fell in love with the beach and made friends easily with it being a small town, everyone knew everybody. I didn't live on the beach at the time, but every day off I would escape to the island and go to the beach to have some fun in the sun. I loved driving over the bridge, it was so beautiful I still get a kick out of it every time I drive over it and see the sun glistening on the water and the sail boats. My husband and I had a goal to move back to Fort Myers beach one day and we finally were able to buy a house on a canal. Then a couple of years later we bought this Cottage as an investment. For a while we rented it out annually and then it started getting to much wear-n-tear we felt, so my husband remodeled everything from new bathrooms, to kitchen, and new appliances and paint. I did all the decorating and buying of furniture, accessories and linen's. I really wanted to make it special and have that something extra that other places didn't have and we decided to make it available for people all over the country to rent and vacation here at Lovers lane and Natures View to enjoy all the beautiful weather we have to offer and outdoor activities at a time when most people are stuck inside during the cold winter months.
It was definitely the oak trees with all the great shadey areas that makes it great for enjoying the outdoors and nature all around this unique private quiet area. Being right across the street from the beach was also a plus since we couldn't afford to be right on the beach this was the next best thing.
