About Anna Edmondson

Peter (energy engineer) had spent many childhood vacations in Inverness. Anna (editor and activist) discovered it as a college student at UC Berkeley in the 80's. The wild, romantic beauty of Pt. Reyes' moors and beaches captured our imaginations even before we met. One thing led to another and we were finally able to realize our dream of having a place of our own. Inverness is not for the faint of heart - it's unpredictable - at times foggy, cold and moody, other times sunny and exhuberent. Here we find peace and inspiration. Even our teen boys look forward to unplugging and chilling out.

Car: necessary

This lovely rental in the Seahaven district of Inverness is a 7-minute walk to the romantic, wild, yet sheltered Shell Beach, perfect for an afternoon picnic or early morning walk. Hop in your car and you are minutes away from all the beaches and sights of Pt. Reyes National Sea Shore. Kayaking, paddle-board, and sailboat rentals on Tomales Bay are 3 minutes away. An oyster fan? Head to Marshall and buy delicious oysters to eat there or bring home. For meat lovers, excellent choices at Marin Sun Farms in Pt. Reyes Station. Our favorite short hike is the Firetrail from Old Inverness - like walking through a Chinese watercolor of windswept pines and craggy stone walls up to Mt. Vision Road and views of the Pacific Ocean.

Small Writing/Creative Retreat

5 of 5
Submitted: December 9, 2012 Stayed: November 2012
I organized a small creative retreat and it was a total success. Everyone who attended was comfortable and enjoyed the quiet place to write and be creative. There are nearby paths for walking and hiking, wonderful views, peace and quiet and a fabulous hot tub. The kitchen had everything we needed and the Franklin stove kept us cozy on that rainy weekend!

I highly recommend this property for a weekend getaway of any type. I plan to book again in January!

Owner's Response: We're thrilled to hear our home is becoming a creative retreat. This is exactly what we had in our hearts when we first found it. From cooking, to collage, this place has the light, the quiet, and views to spark one's imagination.

cozy retreat house with hiking trails, beach views, and hot tub!

5 of 5
Submitted: December 4, 2012 Stayed: December 2012
I had a lovely weekend staying on a creative women's retreat at this cozy comfortable home. An easy walk to a secluded beach with hiking trails, a hot tub on the deck, a wood-burning stove, and good company made for a relaxing and productive writing retreat. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a getaway with their sweetie, family, or group of friends. The owners are helpful and thoughtful. The street could be more clearly marked coming from the South, it is hard to see the sign. I overshot, and had to turn around and approach it from the other direction. Perhaps a bunch of balloons or some other way to mark the turn-off would be helpful.

Owner's Response: We appreciate your suggestion of placing balloons or some colorful marker at the Camino Del Mar-Sir Francis Drake Blvd. intersection. It's a good idea for small groups coming in different cars.

Great Spot for a Getaway

5 of 5
Submitted: November 11, 2012 Stayed: November 2012
We reserved for a long Sisters Getaway weekend and the house was perfect! The place was super clean and with everything we needed from the well-stocked kitchen to the DVD/VCR for watching Bridesmaids - one of us is getting married soon. The location is perfect for exploring Pt. Reyes and surrounding areas. You'll appreciate being in such a quiet spot with views of the Bay and still close enough to fine restaurants, quaint shops and places to stock up on provisions.
There were 5 of us and we had plenty of room to spread out without even using the studio space. Super cozy bed with fluffy duvet made for a great night's sleep. I'd definitely recommend this lovely spot to friends and family - in fact, I already have!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: Thank you for your review! Winter is coming so we'll be stocking up the wood shed to supply the wood-burning stove. For you grilling die-hards we've added a new Element gas grill that can be wheeled under the front porch should you get caught flipping burgers during a downpour.

Sisters getaway

5 of 5
Submitted: November 9, 2012 Stayed: November 2012
My sisters and I spent a lovely weekend at this property. The house was clean, comfortable, and fully equipped. The large spacious living room was perfect for gathering in the evening in front of the fire.

The location was very nice. Not too far from shopping in Pt. Reyes but quiet and peaceful. We walked to Shell Beach and enjoyed an amazingly warm November day. We drove out to Pt. Reyes lighthouse and enjoyed the scenery along the way.

Gorgeous and relaxing!

5 of 5
Submitted: November 7, 2012 Stayed: November 2012
I stayed here for a girl's weekend with my four sisters. We had a great time in this gorgeous retreat! The house had everything we needed and then some. The kitchen was well supplied and we had a great time cooking. The open floor plan makes it easy to hang out, cook, and eat. There was plenty of interesting reading on the book shelves, the wifi worked great, and the hifi was fun to listen to. The house was very clean and felt homey. It was also very quiet with no road noise at all. Looking out the windows at the beautiful view a highlight of this house. The trees and the bay with the hills in the distance is just gorgeous. The meadow in front is peaceful and serene. Exactly what a home on the bay should be.

One day we went to the lighthouse and North Beach, the other we strolled to Shell Beach and back. Both days we ate the delicious cheese from Pt. Reyes Station. There were lots more things we wanted to do; visit the Elk, hike, kayak. The location was great!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: Thank you Leah! We'll be laying some cozy, fun FLOR carpet tiles in the attic over Thanksgiving break and re-stocking the place with the latest magazines and books. Winter rains are approaching so we'll be putting in some new native plants in the front meadow.
