Worst experience EVER Dishonest unit manager

First let me state that this was not our first choice in this building we booked another unit 6 months in advance and 20 days before our trip the owner emailed us to say he double booked and he found this unit available for us. Upon walking in to the unit it was clear that it was DIRTY. The walls were all smeared and stained. The carpets had HUGE black stains all over them in EVERY room. The counters were dirty in the kitchen. Upon further inspection we found a drawer cover broke off and put in the closet in bedroom, another bedroom had an outlet that was pushed all the way into the wall. We called the unit manager to make sure we were not charged for these obvious flaws and the manager told us he was well aware of all of it and we would NOT be charged. NICE!!! He told us he would send housekeeping to re-clean. When housekeeping arrived she cleaned the counter and informed us that the other stuff (walls/carpet) was not part of her housekeeping and was a deep cleaning which the owners would not pay for. The furniture in the kitchen is falling apart. The couches have stains and are TAPED in spots. The next day we decided to go to the pool since it is clearly advertised it is operational. We didn't have the key card to get in. Again we called the manager and he told us that he didn't have one and that the pool was closed. Nothing states this in ad. We were disappointed because we had 9 kids with us. The next day we saw families at the pool so clearly it was open, again called manager and he basically said we were out of luck and to see if someone would let us in ( which it clearly states on sign NOT to do at gate). Ironically enough a few of us ran into the property manager who explained to us not only had the pool been open but it was open for a month now. He told us that the manager office was right across the street. So we went to ask for key card and was told we could not get it before our trip was over. We talked to property manager who said he would have it in 2 hours. We HAD to bring the property manager over to the unit manager to basically MAKE HIM give us a key card. UNBELIEVEABLE. Needless to say we were able to get a card for the last 2 days of our 7 day trip and despite the promise of $75 refund for our troubles we have not gotten it.
For the price we paid for this unit we feel we were scammed. I would not recommend this unit to anyone because even if they fix the cosmetic flaws the manager/owner are dishonest and don't care about the customer.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback, we just wanted an opportunity to explain some unfortunate circumstances around your stay. This unit was in the process of being sold so we were in a holding pattern between the current owner and the new owner and our hands were tied as to what we could do there. As far as the pool passes go - the property manager that you met on the property is the manager for the HOA and is the same person who told us that we could not purchase the pool passes until the unit was in the hands of the new owner so he was not totally honest with you and he did not force us to give you a pass as he was the one with the passes. We do regret that you had a bad experience and the new owner will be replacing all of the carpet and making some substantial improvements over the next couple of weeks.
