Year Round Actvities:
This apartment house, Montanji, is uphill from the village and there is a local loop bus that circles the whole village at most times. The local town swimming complex is easy to reach with several swimming and spa/sauna activities. There are a few gondola lifts to the upper alpine plateau overlooking the town and valley from over 3000m high. A glacial lake in directly over the town and is great for hiking in summer or cross country skiing in winter with prepared trails all th way to Kandersteg with a return by bus. Two to three downhill ski slopes are in operation throughout the winter with children friendly access as well as challenging trails for snowboarders and others. Summer hiking includes routes along streams and across the top of the Alps or through wonderful alpine landscapes. Local eateries feature Swiss-Valais cuisine and excellent local Rhone Valley wines. Languages:
Most people in and around this area speak German. But, both French and Italian are spoken somewhat. English speakers may encounter some difficulty however in the village one can find many English speakers in businesses and hotels/restaurants/bars.
