The area is filled with tall trees and my home is in a quiet neighborhood. Although we are only 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver, the area is in a country setting. Burnaby Lake is just minutes away to walk to. Take a walk onto the long dock there and view the beavers building their dens. There is a creek running through my property with a heron who comes to feed daily, ducks in the Spring, and salmon fry and crayfish. A beaver even came up our creek and took down a Weeping Willow a few years ago. We are minutes to the bus stop and rapid transit to take you into Vancouver to the bustle of the city yet the beauty of the ocean and mountains. After your day away, come back to rest in our spacious home equipped with all the luxuries of your own home. Enjoy a game of pool, darts or chess after a barbecue on the deck or an eloquent dinner in the dining room. Cooking is an enjoyment in the well appointed kitchen.

My home is where my 4 children spent their later years. It is on a quiet street full of age old trees. The creek running through the back yard gives a feeling of serenity. Many happy hours have been spent here enjoying our home and our family. As life changes, I would like to share this tranquility with travelers who want to experience this beautiful part of the world.

Why Deborah Parker chose Burnaby

My husband and I had just moved back to Burnaby from Calgary and couldn't find the home we wanted. When we drove down the street and saw the 'Father's Know's Best' front of the house, we knew we had found what we were looking for. That was 20 years and many renovations ago. We have updated the house, enlarged the patio, kitchen, and dining room and then added a family room equipped with a pool table. The 'house' has become a home full of memories. It is as if we were in the country but only a short distance from the city. We found the best kept secret.

What makes this house unique

Although my home is in a park like setting, it is 25 minutes from downtown where you can experience all that busy and beautiful Vancouver has to offer. If you are a skier or hiker, you are less than an hour to one of three ski mountains: Grouse, Seymour, or Cypress, and less than 2 hours to renowned Whistler...a must to visit. The drive to Whistler alone is unbelievable. All these mountains offer beautiful views and trails summer and winter.

There are boats available to rent at Rocky Point or Reed Marina in Burnaby that are 10 minutes away or boats with fishing guides to engage. If you catch nothing else, you must put in a crab net. There are walking trails near by your 'Home Away From Home' or around Stanley Park's sea wall where you can walk along side the ocean and on a clear day, see the Gulf Islands. If you are a biker, there is a bike lane a block away that will take you right into the city or surrounding areas and a multitude of trails near by. Burnaby Golf Course is 10 minutes away by car and there are many other courses close by to choose from. I would be more than happy to help you in any of these endless things to see and do. I don't want to forget the many restaurants of every ethnic origin available for your pleasure.

We are situated close to Burnaby Lake which is a bird sanctuary and has a beaver population of 150. There is an 8 mile track around the lake among shady trees. We are a 5 minute walk to a bus stop and a 10 minute walk to rapid transit (sky train). The sky train can take you to downtown Vancouver in less that 1/2 hour. There is a public golf course near by (Burnaby Golf Course). Simon Fraser University on top of Burnaby Mountain is 20 minutes away. The view from the top is spectacular and a 5 star restaurant is also there for your pleasure. Skiing or sightseeing at Cypress Mt, Seymour Mt, or Grouse Mt is 30-45 minutes away by car. Whistler is a 2 hour car ride. Transportation by bus or car is easy to the ferry terminal to take you to Vancouver Island over the Georgia Straight and with some luck, a view of some Killer Whales. Victoria on Vancouver Island is another must-see and can easily be done in a day.
