what a great week we had. Douglas Lake is a wonderful lake and the improvement they have done to the cottage was wonderful. I have vacationed on Douglas Lake for 3 years in a row and plan to spend next year there as well.
my only other comment is I wish you provided a dryer. smile.
thanks again for a wonderful week.
We had a trip to Colorado Springs cancelled 4 days before we had to leave. Luckily Matt and Leslie had just closed on the cottage and put it up for rent for the week of the 4th. They were wonderful to rent from. They answered all questions immediately and gave us a nice list of fireworks displays in the area and options of fun things to do.
The pictures didn't show the living room and the sleeping porch. They are nice rooms. The cabin ended up being bigger than I anticipated from the pictures. The cabin was clean.
Douglas Lake is beautiful and quiet. We thought it would be really busy over the 4th, but it was very relaxing and enjoyable. The water is shallow which is great for kids, or for us it was great for our dog.
It was quite hot that week and we didn't know how it would be without air conditioning. But the nights cool off considerably and there's also a great sleeping porch if it's too hot.
Douglas Lake Bar is 4 doors down. It has a great menu and wonderful food. We didn't travel around much, it was perfect staying at the cabin and relaxing outside.
If you are looking for a relaxing getaway this is the place. We would definitely stay there next year again.
Wow! Not only great for kids! Steps away from DLB steakhouse and bar! Minutes away from Mackinaw Island, PetoskyBay Harbor and Harbor Springs. With the Pontoon we were able to take in the beauty of Douglas Lake. With the University of Michigan owning and preserving over 1/2 the lake we were able to experience Northern Michigan at its finest. Thank you Matt and Leslie for allowing us this unique vacation!! Everyone can't wait to go back!! More than satisfied every age group!!
