This Holiday villa rental for self-catering is located in a quiet place of Colares, only 10 minutes walk to the beach Praia das Macas, Sintra, Lisbon Coast. The villa has 5 spacious bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, private swimming pool, BBQ area for al fresco diner, interior parking for 4 cars.Sleeps up 12 people ( If necessary, we can accommodate until 16 people). There are some restaurants, supermarkets and little shops at walking distance. The bus stop is only 10 minutes walk. The Sintra centre only 10 min. drive. Lisbon, Estoril and Cascais only half an hour drive.

This villa is located in a quiet place of the beach Praia das Macas in the Natural Park Sintra-Cascais. The house is close to a beautiful pine trees with a very relaxant view. There are some restaurants, supermarkets and shops only 10 min. walk from the villa. Also, the beautiful local beach is only 10 min. walk. The tramway line and the bus stop are 10 min. walk. Lisbon center, Cascais, Estoril and Mafra are only half 30 min. drive. You will be very close to the historical monuments in the Sintra hills, (only 15 min. drive). Some adegas for wine tasting are only 10 min. drive and the golf range also 10 min. drive.

Lisbon Coast:: The triangle formed by Sintra-Estoril-Cascais concentrate the most exciting activity in the Lisbon Coast. Lisbon, the capital of the country, close to the sea, has a fantastic area with beautiful beaches and Natural Parks. This property is located in a protected area where is forbidden to build new properties, The place is very quiet and noisy free. This villa has a fantastic sea view and also an incredible view for the Sintra hills. From here, we can see an amazing view to the main historic monuments in the Sintra hills, as Royal Pena Palace or Monserrate Palace.

Beaches: Praia Grande, is one of the largest sandy beach in the Sintra area. Annually is held here an international championship of Body Board. The beach has, also, ideal conditions for Surfing . This beach has, something unique in that area: a cliff on the South side where some tracks of Dinosaur can be observed. Praia das Maças, is another lovely sandy Beach, very popular, with their restaurants with sea food, renowned for their regional wine of Colares (Ramisco). Another two lovely beaches are Praia Pequena and Praia da Adraga, only 10 min. drive. Near Cascais, the Guincho Beach, a wonderful place for Windsurfing, is only 20 min. drive. You will find at Guicho beach some of the best restaurants in that area.

Historical Monuments:: You can visit beautiful monuments in Sintra : Royal Pena Palace, Palacio da Villa, Seteais Palace, Monserrate Palace (renowned for its gardens and water courses). Regaleira Palace, the Toy Museum, (over 20.000 pieces from 16th century to the 20th century). You will find the Cabo da Roca, (the Westernmost Point in Continental Europe) a wonderful place, only 15 min. drive, where you will see a fantastic view over the Atlantic Ocean.

Seven friends and I had a great week staying here - Mr Bastos was extremely helpful, and lives very close by - he is cheerfully available day or night, any day of the week, which was much appreciated. The villa spacious, very nicely furnished, clean and with very good facilities and masses of crockery, cutlery, linen etc. The living space is huge, with a lovely dining room, great tv, and DVD projector, which we very much enjoyed. It was also fantastic to have a good computer and wireless internet. Eight people (and a baby or two) can sleep very comfortably in the bedrooms; more could sleep on the sofabeds in communal areas. I'd definitely recommend the place for a (large) family, or a group of friends.

The only slight snags were that it was quite easy to fuse the electricity, with relatively few appliances on at once - but Mr Bastos was there within minutes and showed us how to fix it, and it didn't happen again. (The hob and one of the showers is gas, too, so you could get by for a while.) The pool is also quite small - but we enjoyed it!

We didn't go into Praia da Macas, the closest village, much, but it was a fairly easy walk when we did, and the bakery, post office and small supermarket there were very handy. The Restaurant Nautilus was fantastic - service slow to start with but they really cared about the food, which was delicious and plentiful, and were very impressive in particular at filleting our sea bream at the table. We had a great night there.
