Guestbook comments from the manager
The cabin was just great, and we're ready to go again. It's a perfect place for a family getaway, and we enjoyed our time together. We played games, enjoyed the mountain views, a trip to the Fun Factory among other activities, had pizza at Nick and Nates, and even were brave and grilled out even though it's winter. Looking forward to returning for one of the many outdoor activities available in the area over the summer months. Our visit exceeded our expectations and helped us make some very happy family memories.

We are retired, Dan from the United States Navy, and Mary from the Department of Justice. We're enjoying ourselves by occasional stays in our cabin, traveling the country in our 5th wheel camper, visiting family and friends and seeing the sights around the USA.

Laura, Booking Agent - Office Hours M-F 9-4 purchased this cabin in 2008

Dan and I bought the land on which to build this cabin in 2008. We love the quiet and secluded location and still close to many activities. We began building about one year later. Over the next three years, we were there just about every free weekend and holiday to put together the dream of our vacation cabin in the mountains. We received our Certificate of Occupancy in April of 2012, almost exactly three years from the time we started to build. Needless to say, we were very proud of Hidden Hills Cabin. After the foundation was poured by professionals, along with an HVAC/plumbing company and a friend who is very experienced in construction work and a hard worker who came when we needed him, we did the rest of the work ourselves. It was an exciting goal, and we are very happy with how everything turned out. Whenever we look at it, we shake our heads in wonder.

Our favorite part of this cabin is its quiet and secluded location but still close to whatever we need or want to do. Beautiful colors during leaf season. Close to water activities, great restaurants, shopping, Smoky Mountain Railroad, Smoky Mountain National Park, Cherokee Casino, and many other attractions. Very relaxing to sit on the porch or lounge in the hot tub and look out over the mountain views, watch the sunrise and sunset. Hidden Hills Cabin is very spacious and has what you need to be comfortable. It's a great escape after a busy day of activities in the Smoky Mountains.

RELAX AND ENJOY

  • 4 of 5
We had rainy, cold weather BUT with all the books, movies and games (hot tub) we really enjoyed ourselves. This cottage is a lovingly crafted cottage . The upstairs bedroom is awesome. Some suggestions: supply a dust pan for sweeping up. Label the soap containers. We were unsure which to use for the dishwasher.

Owner's Response: So glad you had a happy stay despite the weather. Some suggestions for indoor fun near the cabin might be to Explore Rich Cherokee History - You can visit the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, which includes the tribe's history along with numerous exhibits about how they lived, dressed, and played - or you can try your luck at the Harrah's Casino in Cherokee. Your hints were good ones, and there is now a dust pan conveniently hanging in the laundry room, and the soap containers provided are clearly marked. We hope you will have another opportunity for a Smoky Mountain vacation at Hidden Hills Cabin, and we thank you for your kind comments.

We had a great time. This cabin is beautiful on the inside and out. Clean, great TV reception, minutes from the casino and there are plenty of other activities for the family. The weather was perfect. Just a perfect place and mini-vacation. We are looking forward to going again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words about Hidden Hills Cabin. It always makes us feel good to hear that someone enjoyed themselves so much. As we respond, we are sitting at the kitchen table at the cabin having our morning coffee as we watch the beautiful sunrise over the mountains and enjoying the view of the snow covered hills. Awesome! Come back again, soon. We come here, ourselves, as often as possible.

HIDDEN HILLS CABIN PROVIDES THE PERFECT FAMILY GETAWAY AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE

  • 5 of 5
We stay at cabins in the Smokies every year. This was our first stay at Hidden Hills, but will not be our last. The property is in like new condition. Spacious decks provide addional areas for relaxing, watching the wildlife, reading a book, enjoying the hot tub, and viewing the mountains. There are plenty of games, movies, and a game table for those times spent indoors. The property is located near great white water, the Cherokee casino, and restaurants in Dillsboro and Silva. We will be back.

FAIR ACCOMMODATIONS

  • 2 of 5
The overall stay was not bad but there are few areas that need attention. The cabin wasn’t as clean as I would expect; there was an accumulation of dust on the stairs leading to the second floor and cobwebs on the light fixture above the dining table and the ceiling fans were dirty. The living room has very poor and uncomfortable furniture; the sofa is pretty saggy and to be comfortable in the wooden rocking chairs is an unachievable task. Almost all of the pans and pots for cooking, all except one, are Teflon coated and are badly scratched (this is a health hazard and it shouldn’t really be used). There was no kettle to boil water for tea. Mattress covers have multiple stains. Bath tub on the first floor was very slow. Electric fire place in the mountains may be practical and easy but it was a little slap in the face, at least for me. Also, gusts should be aware that there may have difficult time to get to the house with snow on the ground because of the two very steep inclines on the access road.

Owner's Response: This is our first unhappy review after having many guests over the past two years, and we have lots of great positive reviews from extremely satisfied travelers. However, we apologize that your experience was not what you had anticipated and hope there was at least one thing you found to be nice at our special mountain getaway. The electric fireplace feature has always been noted in our listing, and 4-wheel drive recommended if expecting snow is noted, as well. Thank you for the feedback, and we will look into making any of your suggested changes that might be necessary. We strive to make all who stay at Hidden Hills Cabin as comfortable as possible.

ANNIVERSARY GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
We arrived at Hidden Hills on January 2, 2014, and our stay was wonderful to say the least! This cabin is well maintained, and has excellent mountain views and privacy. We really loved all of the windows, which offer wonderful views from all sides. It is equiped with anything that you would need for a short or extended stay, and we really felt that the cabin atmosphere was cozy, warm and inviting. Weather forcasts for our stay were not so good, but after retiring the first night, we woke up to a white blanket of light snow the next morning with sunshine, which we found exciting (we don't get to see much snow where we are from!). Altough we spent our time exploring Cherokee, Silva and Dillsboro (which are all close by), there is more than enough space at the cabin to entertain indoors or outdoors, with a large wrap around porch, and hot tub area with lots of seating. The owners have done a nice job of providing a true get-away experience for travelers, and we would highly recommend this cabin to anyone seeking a relaxing and quiet vacation, no matter how long the stay. As previously stated, the area is full of things to do and sights to see, with Silva and Dillsboro no more than 10 minutes away. We highly recommend Speedy's Pizza in Silva, great prime rib on Thursday nights which we enjoyed, and great pizza anytime! Cherokee is about 10 miles from the Cabin, and we thoroughly enjoyed the Cherokee Indian Museum and Harrahs Casino while in Cherokee. They also have rafting and tubing outfitters at the bottom of the hill from the Cabin which is less than a mile, which would be very convenient for travelers wishing to navigate the river during the summer months. Hidden Hills provided a great weekend get-away for us, we will be returning, and although we would rather keep this place to ourselves, we would highly recommend it to all! Enjoy!
