Built in 2005, this house was never used, until purchased by new owner in June, 2012. Not your standard 1970's Pocono rental! New/newer furnishings, comfortable beds, and new 12 x 14 dock. 1 2-person kayak, pedal boat, 4 fishing rods, and 3 bikes are provided. High chair, booster seat, Graco Pack & Play, babygate, XL Dog Cage, and handicapped toilet/bath chair also provided (main floor master bedroom). This house has large rooms and can sleep up to 16 people (maximum capacity). Great for 2 families.
We're a blended family from Maple Glen, PA (suburban Philadelphia) with 6 kids, ranging in age from 10 to 23. We love both the beach and the more family-oriented mountains.
Susan Sims purchased this house in 2012
We did extensive research into the various Pocono communities. We wanted lake front, within a reasonable drive from Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York, where we have family; a good/established community with a lot of amenities at a good value; and at least 1 heated swimming pool within walking distance was a MUST. There also needed to be a variety of attractions both within and near the community that would be of interest to kids of all ages.
No 'old house smell' in our home! We're trying to create a contemporary but warm and comfortable decor, that's family-friendly, and that takes full advantage of the lake year round. Although our home is pet-friendly to well-behaved pets (we have 2 doodles) and owners, absolutely no smoking is allowed. To maintain the new carpets and furnishings and ensure that the house remains at its best, we prefer renting to families and will not rent to groups of college-aged individuals.
My wife and I have been looking for a nice rental for us and our family to enjoy in the summer. When I saw this one online I felt we had to check it out. It is nearly perfect for us! Our grandchildren (8 and 6 years of age) had a really good time especially with the beach just 2 properties away. They had their little bit of freedom but were still under watch. There was room enough for all 8 of us and the living room was just right, too. We liked the kitchen and especially the dock. If I had to pick out one problem I would like to see something done about the back yard, but the handyman who watches the house said there might be some improvements in the near future. All in all it was a very nice stay and I have already begun arrangements to return this summer. Thanks, Suzie!
We were at VoloVista for the labor day weekend 2013. This was one of the best vacation we have had. The house is beautiful and accommodated us comfortably (9 Adults, 3 kids and a dog). Be it swimming in the lake or the canoeing.. fishing in the evening or sitting by the fire pit after dusk... barbeque on the deck or watching a movie in the living room.. It all was so much fun that there is no doubt we'll be back again next year.. And Susan, You are now more of a friend than just the owner of VoloVista. Thank you! We'll see you next year!!!
Excellent home for a snowy weekend! Owner was very accommodating as far as check in/check out. All payments were convenient, and the house is set up well for a group from 8 - 14. We had 10 people, and there were a couple of sleeping spots open. The firepit was really nice for the snow storm, and the kitchen/grill were adequate for a large group. My only recommendations would be a new shower head on the 2nd floor bathroom, and that there be a bucket/bag of salt for ice melting at the property. By Sunday, the glass door on the front was barely able to be opened because of all the snow melt dripping onto the front deck. Of course, it was because we had about 8 - 10 inches of snow the two days before. The largest part of the roof just happens to drain right onto the front deck, so the ice was fairly difficult for us to manage. We were able to load everything out through the garage, though. All in all, we had a wonderful stay, and will definitely consider coming back when we have the chance! Thanks, Suzie et al!
I will leave this review short and sweet, but bottom line we had a great stay! Best way to describe it is was Suzie (owner of the house) was able to process a stay at her place on two days before we arrived and EVEN coordinated all needed dealings with the Arrowhead (neighborhood) security.
The house is beautiful and has great views of the lake AND if you are adventurous you can even take advantage of the fishing rod's in the garage and head out ice fishing during the winter. Not to mention the house is very new and contains hardwood floors, multiple bathrooms and even an outdoor fireplace that is easy to setup.
Great stay and I look forward to going back soon!
