Fishing:
Ballina is The Salmon capital of Ireland, with The River Moy flowing through the center of town with world famous Ridge Pool and weir overlooked by St Murdach's Cathedral. Where anglers come from all over Europe to fish for the wild Atlantic salmon. There are also plenty of lakes and streams for course fishing. And 10 kgs to the Atlantic for all sea angling.
Golf:
Ballina has a beautiful 18 hole parkland course where there are special weekly rates available.
We are also surrounded by spectacular links courses, Enniscrone being the closest only 10 kl.
Carne, Strandhill and Rosses Point. All about 1 hours drive. Advisable to reserve tee times in advance on links courses.
Touring:
Ballina is a very central location for touring the whole northwest region..
But why leave the rugged beauty of Mayo one of Ireland's biggest counties. Which because of all its islands probably has more coastline then any other county in Ireland. Achill the largest island is well worth checking out.
Ceide fields is another must for all interested in history and archeology.
The town of Westport has a lot of attractions for a day out. Visit Westport House and park with its own zoo.
If you get a rainy day,Foxford woolen mills 15 min drive is a good half day visit. A working mill with a tour explaining its beginnings. And then between Oxford and Castlebar is the Museum of country life to complete your day of indoor tours. For cyclists there are a lot of routes coastal or through the Ox mountains. There are also lots of clean sandy beaches with high waves for adventurous swimmers and surfers
Half hour drive to a working farm, open to the public, the children will just love.
