As you enter Luminosa through it's grand Elizabethan facade, prepare yourself to be surprised and delighted at every turn throughout this magical home. This unique estate is found in the exclusive and treasured hideaway of Hope Ranch; known for its luxury homes, ranch estates, horse trails, private beaches and unparalleled views. Yet, it is the calming sound of the breeze, the distant waves, and the stillness that will captivate the senses.
This magnificent property borders 300 acres of hiking and horse trails, and it is a short walk through the adjoining More Mesa Nature Preserve to a rarely-accessed beach. The extensive grounds present a natural wonderland. Intriguing paths meander down the property to a natural pond where you can watch wild water fowl. Take some time to forage in the organic herb and vegetable gardens, or continue your stroll to discover the abundance of flowers for cutting and arranging. Your path may lead you to the lower levels of the property, where there is a chicken coop and more shady spots to sit and relax.
Inside, your senses will be stimulated by the eclectic arrangement of fine collectibles and antiques that distinguish the nooks and corners of each room.
The generous Entry Hall is grand with its soaring curved stairway, and leads you into the Living Room. Colorful and comfortable, this room features a massive stone fireplace, Grand Piano, and has floor to ceiling doors leading to the terrace. From the Living Room, a set of French doors opens to the unique and impressive Cinema Room. The Cinema Room was custom designed and built by Pelonis Sound, renowned for building sound studios for Sony Corporation. The soundproof room is elegantly designed, but made for fun family movie nights.
Choose from two unique dining options: a long Danish table that seats up to 16, or the more intimate velvet-lined Formal Dining Room, featuring a gilded chandelier and vintage French tiles. In the Great Room, a lovely sitting area is centered by a fireplace and television. Step outside the Great Room to the Loggia, where stately columns and a checkerboard of vintage Nicaraguan tiles accent this canopy-covered sitting area. It is here that guests can relax and enjoy the views, or warm-up on cool nights in front of the large outdoor fireplace. This unique fireplace boasts an Italian-style 'open flame' grill that invites rustic outdoor dining.
In the Kitchen, leaded-glass cabinets, French bar stools, and a pounded copper island are the focal points. Those familiar with international cuisine will enjoy the English AGA radiant heat stove which is paired with a practical four-burner gas range. The feel of the Kitchen is warm and inviting while efficient and thoughtfully well equipped.
From the Entry Hall, guests will ascend the gracious curved staircase, which rises above the two-story windows framed with red velvet curtains. These unique curtains were rescued from a Hollywood set warehouse. Atop the stairway on the second floor, all the bedrooms orient Westward toward the expansive pool terrace, the More Mesa Nature Preserve, and the ocean beyond.
Two Master Suites on opposing wings make this a perfect vacation spot for two families. The Main Master Suite features another uniquely designed fireplace, and the Master Bathroom includes not only a large walk-in shower but also a luxurious claw foot tub to soak away the cares of the day. The private balcony off this suite just might be the finest spot on the property. It is a relaxing place to oversee activities in the backyard, or to just sit quietly and enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature.
Down the hallway are two Bedroom Suites. One with a queen-size bed and the other with a full-size bed. Both have full bathrooms and share a common balcony overlooking the grounds.
A whimsical Fourth bedroom with twin beds features another full bathroom and is luxurious and well appointed. From here, pass through the Children's Library, filled with treasured childhood books to the back hallway that leads to the second Master Suite.
This Master Suite is a romantic space with a queen-size bed, full bathroom with yet another claw-foot tub, and a private balcony. This balcony has stairs which lead down to the garden paths of the magical backyard.
