Spend the night in the historic San Gregorio House, built in 1865 and operated as a stage stop hotel for decades. The 'guest room' has two sections, with a double bed on one side and a single bed on the other. The furniture is original – used when the hotel was a bustling stage stop. There is a TV/DVR (DirecTV), a VCR and a wireless internet connection– and a small area with refrigerator and other amenities. Breakfast can be provided for an additional cost.
Located on the San Mateo County coastside - San Gregorio is 10 miles south of Half Moon Bay & 7 miles north of Pescadero. It takes about 15 minutes to get to Half Moon Bay by automobile.
The property is on 4 acres with chickens, goats and gardens. San Gregorio State beach is walking distance and the San Gregorio store is across the street with live music on weekends.
I had the opportunity to stay at this guest property for an extended period of time. It is truly a wonderful place in an exceptionally beautiful area. This guest room includes a private bath and two rooms with a wonderful bed and small living area. The bathroom has a great shower. It is nestled in what could properly be thought of as similiar to an English Garden, and the early morning and early evening light is delightful, an almost spectral and other worldly charm. The house is behind a grove of trees and plants and is exceptionally private. The Ocean is less than a mile down the road, and the San Gregorio General Store is across the street and a wonderful place. The location is unbeatable. You are generally equidistant from San Fran and Santa Cruz, and Half Moon Bay is just ten minutes away. I have stayed in a variety of locations in California and throughout the country, and this place is my absolute favorite. Rudy and Sue give you privacy and attend to all your needs. The room, the immediate surroundings and the options for you days and nights make this location just about as perfect a one as I could imagine. Leaving each morning by foot or car to the varied places to see and things to do, I would marvel at the impressive beaches, cliffs, and other natural landscapes. I will most certainly return to allow myself the opportunity to be renewed and refreshed by the combonation of serenity, natural beauty, and enough options day by day, night by night to please just about anyone. It is sincerely a great place to be.
San Gregorio State beach is walking distance (less than a mile) and is a spectacular beach. Check out their website for more info.
