Getting to our house:
The nearest large airport is at Toulouse, but there are other nearby airports at Pau, Bordeaux and Bergerac. All the airports are operated by the economy airlines and which airport you use depends on your local airport in the UK. The road from our house to the motorway at Agen is very easy with little traffic.
If you are travelling from the Channel ferries, then the motorway on the west coast is usually much less busy than our motorways and can be a very pleasant journey south to the sun.
Local Attractions:
The nearby fortified town of Valence sur Baise is a typical old Gers town with a great deal of history. There are two bar restaurants and a few shops, the post office and the bank. The main town is Condom which is a beautiful historic centre with the old Armagnac distillery and an information centre for the route de Compostella.
The area is full of beautiful old villages such as Fources and Montreal du Gers and further away is the regional town of Auch which is the home of D'Artagnan in the Dumas' story of the three Musketeers. This hill top town is well worth a visit and see the church.
The local wines are excellent and there are several good restaurants to visit.
