Golf: Lahinch Golf Club - Par 72 - 6,950 Yards Lahinch Golf Club Old Course, established in 1892, is one of Ireland's oldest golf clubs and is one of the best loved by both Irish golfers and visitors alike. It looks out across the Atlantic Ocean and is often referred as the Saint Andrews of Ireland. It hosts the South of Ireland Amateur Golf Championship annually. The current golf course was initially created by Alister Mackenzie in 1928, the designer of Cypress Point on the Monterey Peninsula and later co-creater of the legendary Augusta, who revised an initial plan by Old Tom Morris. Holes of particular note are the 4th hole known as the Klondyke and the 5th hole (formerly the 6th) known as 'The Dell'. The Dell is entirely blind. The green is surrounded on all sides by huge sand dunes and is 30 yards in width but not more than 10 yards deep. A white rock indicates the line to the pin.
