It is open concept design with each room opening onto a private porch through hand made mahogany French Doors, cool tile floors, air conditioning and seven ceiling fans. There is a third floor Widows Walk were you can enjoy sunrises over the Caribbean Sea, sunsets over Placencia Lagoon and the Mayan Mountains. You can also have a relaxing private massage up there.
The beautifully landscaped grounds were given an award by the World Wildlife Organization for incorporating the tropical mangroves into the lush landscaping.
My husband and I have owned a home in Placencia for 13 years. We loved visiting the Florida Keys until it became so crowded with people and boats. The Peninsula and Placencia remind us of what the Keys and Key West must have been like 75 or 100 years ago.
Where else in the world can you dive or fish on the second longest Barrier Reef in the world in the morning and cave or hike through pristine jungle mountains and go to waterfalls in the afternoon.
We love it here because no other country in Central America offers so much for so little effort in such a tiny land mass. Add to this the environmentally caring infrastructure and English speaking, friendly, laid-back people and you soon realize that Belize really does have it all.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2007
The fishing is some of the best in the world and the wildlife viewing is spectacular. It is an adventure lovers paradise.
Private yet a five minute walk into the village for great restaurants, bars, and shopping, and local guides will pick you up onsite for tours.
My wife and I, along with my high school senior son, stayed here for a week of spring break. Owner Janis was excellent in answering all our questions and everything was exactly as advertised in her comments as well as other reviews. We been to a lot of resort designations but found Sunset Pointe and the village of Placencia refreshingly unique. A place where tourist, locals and ex-pats mix seemingly seamlessly. All the people we met were extremely pleasant and helpful. At Sunset Pointe, our unit was wonderful and had all the comforts of home including a TV which seemed to have a zillion stations so I could keep up with NCAA March Madness. Caretaker Franciso and his family were great and very helpful as well as recommended fishing and tour guide Alfred (note Alfred also has a nephew Alex who is steeped in the wildlife of the land so we would recommend him for a tour of area for nature sites). Restaurants were all awesome and we went to the Tipsy Tunda (great beach bar), Pickled Parrot where owner Eugene is a great host and the food and drinks are great (plus, if you are on a budget, hard to spend money there), Maya Beach Bistro (special treat where co-owner Ellen took special interest in navigating the menu for my seafood-allergic son plus make sure to try the chocolate spice cake if on the menu), Rumfish y Vino (great place with excellent menu items but note wine is about the only thing not cheap in Placencia), Wendy's is a must for breakfast and, last but not least, save dessert for Tutti Frutti's (went there several times). Also note groceries are reasonable in Placencia (but make sure to get veggies and fruit at stands around center part of town) and we cooked two meals in our condo which has every thing you need to prepare gourmet meals (including fresh fish that guide Alfred will filet for you right on Sunset Pointe's dock). We were sad to leave and will be back. Janis - thanks for all your prep, which made the trip so nice. Chris
We enjoyed our 6 weeks there! Unit was great, felt like we were at home. Sunset Pointe is just a perfect location, far enough away not to have much noise, yet close enough to walk or ride bikes into to town. Food was fantastic, great restaurants, friendly people. On-site manager Fransico and family were very helpful and Alfred was a great guide for tours. Owner was great, easy to deal with and answered all thousand questions we asked. You can not go wrong staying here and I am sure you will fall in love with Placencia just like us.
This is one of the most breathtaking places I have been. This condo is very warm and inviting just like the owners and every item has been very carefully picked out and placed to make your stay comfortable. You will not want for anything and will be treated like family.
There are so many places to go and a wonderful guide named Alfred to take you. His knowledge and smile are amazing. You also have the care taker and family living on property so if you need anything they are there to help.
There is so much to do and so many places to eat you need to stay at least a week or longer, this is my 4th year and I will be back. If you need advice on places to go or what to do first ask Janis, I think she knows as much or more than the locals..
Welcome to paradise..
Even all the glowing reviews don't do this condo justice! Really amazing find. The condo has everything and as others have said, immaculate! With docks just a few steps from the condo, you can watch sunrise on one, sunset on another, and south on another, then not to mention the copollas for a bird's eye view of it all!. Fun going to a place where the toughest decisions is which view you want when. We did two great tours with Alfred who could not be more passionate about sharing his love and knowledge of the area. Francisco and his family were very helpful and always available. Congratulations to their son on his recent graduation! We prefer eating in at night and enjoyed foraging around the sea and village for wonderful and different foods. The kitchen had every need and the open kitchen to living room area was prefect. The owners were so helpful with ideas of things to do and even a recommended packing list with a few things we had not thought of and were very helpful - Please go and enjoy yourselves - I know we did and we look forward to returning again soon.
This condo exceeded our expecatations. The photos do not do it justice. The condo was immacculant and well equiped with everything we needed. The grounds were very clean and well-maintained. Francisco, the caretaker, was always very helpful, as well as his son, Kenny. The owner, Janis, was always very helpful and quick in answering any questions I had through e-mail. Placencia Village is about a 10 minute walk from the condo with great restaurants there. My favorite was Rumfish y vino in the villiage. My other favorite was a bit of a ride, I suggest taking a taxi, to Maya Beach Bistro. The view is beautiful and the food is excellent. If this is your first visit to Belize, I would suggest taking the ATM tour and seeing Xunantunich. Both of these attractions are something I will remember for along time.
We arrived in Belize Friday, January 31st for a 3 night stay at Sunset Pointe. We had rented a car and choose to drive down to Placencia. In retrospect - due to the short duration of our stay - this was a mistake. The 3-1/2 hour drive turned into a 5-6 hour marathon. We were ill-prepared for the condition of the roads and our map was inadequate. However, once we arrived at Sunset Pointe - all was fabulous. The caretaker, Francisco, was attentive, the condo was well-appointed, the weather for the next 3 days was wonderfully beautiful. We loved the village of Placencia - the people were so warm and friendly. The food was great. Our only regret was our short stay. We would like to return for a week or two - bare minimum. (one missing items from the condo - shampoo and conditioner - we just assumed it would be provided).
