Good feelings all round!

  • 5 of 5

This West Seattle hillside home is located on the NE side of the West Seattle peninsula, high above but close to the ocean, and provides magnificent views of the harbour across to Downtown Seattle - from North of the Space Needle to South of Century Link Field. Our stay included New Year's Eve and so a special treat was the spectacular view of the midnight fireworks not only from Space Needle Dowtown, but also from neighbours nearby - judging by the extra vehicles ion the coastal road far below a lot of people also value that view to see in the New Year.

3 couples plus our 16 year old son stayed at the house, and there was plenty of room for all of us amongst the 4 bedrooms. The dining table was also big enough for us all

We felt that the house is in an ideal location - giving great views of Downtown without being within the bustle of that area.

Transport wise you can take the Water Taxi into town from the pier about 1/2 mile down hill from the house (weekdays only and last ferry into town at 0845 - last ferry back at 1845), or walking up to catch a bus into town was also good. We also drove frequently which was about a 10-15 minute drive across to the city via the spectacular bridges!

In the evenings we were able to sample some of the characterful dining places in quieter West Seattle - try the quircky Luna Park Cafe - great after the Seahawks game we attended, or The Elliott Bay Brewing Company - good family food and atmosphere, with great beers and u21s allowed, as long as not at the bar...and if you are "in need" of a good breakfast then try East Street (junction of california and Alaska) which is very popular amongst residents - combined with a record shop, but may involve a wait.

Grocery shopping was easy at the nearby Safeway (3 minute drive), and parking at the house is ample - even on New Year's Eve when several visitors drove to neighbouring properties.

All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our time in this home - the owner is very prompt to reply to queries, very helpful with misplaced items, and also very quick to refund damage deposits.

Good feelings all round!

3-1/2 bedroom house in West Seattle

  • 4 of 5

The house was just perfect for me, my husband, my son and his wife. Everything that we needed for our stay was at the house. The view was great and the neighborhood was nice, quiet, and I appreciated the off-road parking space as the roads are very narrow in that neighborhood. I would definitely come back again.

Thanksgiving in West Seattle

  • 4 of 5

Our family came from various parts of the country for a week of Thanksgiving fun and had a wonderful time. We were sorry the water taxi was only running morning and evenings of week days, but nonetheless we got to use it and loved it. The house accommodated the family ranging in ages from 1 - 68 and we never tired of watching the weather, the boat traffic, the bald eagles, or the downtown skyline. Both West Seattle and downtown Seattle were easy to access and provided lots of entertainment, good food, and sightseeing. Thanks for a great week.!

Fantastic view

  • 5 of 5

The only complaint that I would have is that the railings on the master bedrooms should be reinforced, this is dangerous as they are. The view of Seattle is unbelievable. The BBQ grill was perfect for our evening meals. The beds and living room furniture were very comfortable. We could hear the sea lions every night from the VRBO. We had a van but the water taxi was great for those that wanted to come back at different times from downtown Seattle. Safeway was a great store for getting everything that we needed. We ordered pizza from Luciano's one night and it was excellent. We also ate at Marination for a couple of lunches ( which is by the water taxi ) and it also was really good. Alike beach is also a short walk from the VRBO and it has great walking paths. We were there a week and loved every moment. Daniel is very easy to work with and is prompt in answering questions. We needed a pack and play for our 21 month old grandson and he was very considerate at got one for us. We would definitely rent this VRBO again.

Owner's Response: Hi Joyce, Thank you very much for your kind review. I'm glad your family had a wonderful stay at the house. I traveled with infants before and fully understand the hard work involved for the adults caring for them and thus want to make it as comfortable as for your family. I'd love to welcome your family back when visit Seattle. Regards, Daniel

Great Views

  • 4 of 5

Our family of five had a great stay! There was plenty of room and the views were incredible. We loved Alki Beach and the restaraunt Marination was close, reasonably priced, and right on the water. Food for vegans, vegetarians and carnivores! I rated this stay with four stars because the weather was unseasonably warm and the house, not being air conditioned, needed a few more screens in the bedroom windows. Also, the house could have been a bit cleaner. We loved the location and would definitely stay again.

Awesome VIEW! 12 star view with 3 star home.

  • 3 of 5

Everything previously noted is accurate. The view from this place is awesome and the property has HUGE potential. However, the property owner appears to put near zero effort into making this a useable home. The kitchen is barely stocked. A real shame considering all the seafood available across the ferry at the Pike Market. We cooked 190.00 worth of seafood with about 10.00 worth of kitchen furnishings. A weekend at garage sales could solve a lot of these problems. Not a house for kids as there is no area to play and MANY dangerous landings and stairwells. The separate entry basement housing is rented out and this person has the only yard access and he very poorly maintains the yard. Mid-evening of our arrival day he used the weedeater to cut the lawn...I should have taken pictures as the lawn was at a minimum 12 inches tall, and more like 15 inches at least. Besides the view, the 2 best things about the house are the washer and dryer and the owner does make very quick transactions. My deposit was returned within days and this was most appreciated! Good place to stay if you don't care about the usual conveniences found in your typical VRBO home. Also, all sleeping areas are upstairs. The fourth bedroom that has the bunks is a very tiny room that looks like it might have been a sunroom at one time. Kind of stuffy and hot in there. We closed the door to it to keep out the heat.
