Quiet getaway close to Cabarete
My wife and I enjoyed this secluded condo very much. The description is accurate and the owner is very helpful and quick in communicating.
This unit is on the first floor of a small 10 (or so) unit building that is off the main highway about 5 minutes. It was very quiet when we were there as no one else was in any of the other units. This may make some people nervous, but we enjoyed the privacy and the day staff of the gardener and maid were friendly and so was the night-time security guard. We felt safe the entire time.
The ocean is hard to see from this unit since it is on the first floor (although it is elevated about 6 feet above ground level in the back) but as noted in the description there is private access to the beach that is only a short walk (75 yards or so). Go up the stairs off the building and the ocean is easy to see from the stair landings.
Inside, the condo is well furnished with everything that is needed including a kitchen full of utensils, plates, glasses, etc. There are two ceiling fans and a couple of floor fans as well. The living room has a TV and DVD player and the bedroom had a TV with satellite connection. The bathroom is modern and very clean. The bed was comfy and there were extra pillows. Everything was very clean.
There is air conditioning, but only in the bedroom, not in the living area or kitchen. We were fine with that because of the cool sea breeze and the fans, but is something to be aware of.
There is wifi internet. The speeds weren't stellar but pretty average for the Dominican Republic in my experience. Somewhere around 2 or 3 mb/sec download when we were there.
Cabarete is about 5 minutes down the highway by car, so you'll need some kind of transportation if you want go into town. Public transportation is available on the highway and there are plenty of taxis and moto-taxis in the area too. We had our motorcycle and I felt safe having it parked at the condo.
Overall, it was a great deal and well worth the value.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed the Condo. We have traded the unit you booked for a "Mini-Penthouse" second and third floor unit so our unit is no longer on the ground floor. You were there in the Low season and there are more guests in the units starting in December through April, although never crowded.
