Sleeps 5 -- Master bedroom with queen bed and private bath; separate bedroom with two twin beds. A private living room with fire place and pull-out queen sleeper sofa provides additional sleeping space. Large and bright great room spills onto the porch. The house is in wonderful condition -- with a well-kept garden and fresh and clean interior. Enjoy the garden from the porch -- for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Take a short walk down Tween Walls to enjoy the property's private waterfront with wonderful views of Mangrove Bay, Somerset Village and the point at Dock Yard. Venture down the steps to the cottage's tiny, private beach backed by limestone cliffs.
My family history in Bermuda dates back to the 1600s. Coach House was built by my Great Uncle Jack and is where my grandmother lived in her later years.
Beth Snyder purchased this cottage in 1970
The Coach House was a wonderful choice for the four of us. Staying there made it possible to have breakfasts and an occasional meal there instead of having to rely solely on restaurants. The grocery store is an easy walk from the house-groceries are expensive so we brought some things along with us. The beds are comfortable and each bedroom has its own bathroom. If it had been warmer when we were there (March) we would have enjoyed having our meals on the verandah which overlooks a beautiful, peaceful backyard setting. It is very close to the bus stop and not far from a ferry. We especially enjoyed several restaurants in the Dockyards, less than a 10 minute bus ride-not so much the closest restaurant which is in walking distance, the Country Squire Pub (maybe they were having an off night). To a person, the people we met along the way, whether it was at a bus stop, the bus drivers or walking down the lane were very friendly, helpful and always had a greeting. It's lovely!
We emailed the owner a couple of times during our stay with some questions and a reply came immediately.
We had a terrific stay!
We had a wonderful stay at Coach House. We found it comfortable, clean and a perfectly fit our family's needs . We traveled to Bermuda to take part in part in the Bermuda Marathon. Along with the race we were able to experience the local culture of the surrounding area. We found the people helpful and warm, and had a wonderful time traveling the island by bus and ferry. Coach House provided a large kitchen for family meals and a lovely yard and veranda. The owners were very informative and easy to work with, We would definitely recommend Coach House for a enjoyable stay in Bermuda.
I just have to take the time to express how wonderful our stay at the Coach House was! It was so lovely inside and out. It was not on the water - but what a beautiful cottage yard. The outside veranda was my favorite place! It was my first trip to Bermuda and I am in love! The beaches are the most beautiful I have ever seen and the people are extremely kind. I cannot wait to go back.
We had an absolutely amazing experience at the Coach House and plan to go back. I was pleasantly surprise by the privacy of the yard. My toddler loved walking in the "jungle" and looking for lizards and birds. The house itself is adorable and modern -- the layout is perfect and it is very spacious and open. The proximity to the post office (for bus passes), pharmacy, bus stop, grocery stores and a couple of restaurant is great. Though, it might be nice to have a cheap bicycle with basket on the property for quick runs to to the grocery store. Just a suggestion for next time :) The private beach is nice for a quick dip and we were even vistied by two sea turtles there!
As far as activites, we went to the Dockyards -- Storkle Beach was a good place to take a toddler or young children (though, there are plenty of other options if you are more flexible), visited the aquarium/zoo which is a bit of hike by bus with a toddler but a great place to visit (suggest Rustico for lunch or dinner if you are out that way), Horseshoe Bay (a bit too touristy but has amenities), and Church Bay (our absolute favorite beach, but you need to time it just right with the tide because much of the beach vanishes). Also, loved visiting the little pharmacy in Somerset-- has a great selection of toys/books for youngsters.
Beth provided a lot of great tips and was very organized. Great experience all around!
Fantastic family rental. The home is up to date and has obviously very well taken care of. We ended up spending a large portion of our time there on the back porch. The grounds are amazing, has to be more than 1 acre which I imagine to be pretty rare for Bermuda. Very, very private - did not see a neighbor or anyone else the entire week we were there.
Relaxing with cool evening breezes and the (provided) lounge chairs under the stars in the backyard at night is _exactly_ what's needed after a long day of touring around the island. The folks down at the pub in Somerset (5 min walk away) are extremely friendly and the food is surprisingly very good. The market is about a 10 min walk away, but very easy. The bus stops for Somerset are also less than 5 min walk away.
The private beach is a bit small, but perfect for an early morning dip. Larger beach is about 10 min (easy) walk away.
Coach house was as beautiful as we had anticipated, the house was clean, comfortable and well equipped .Coach house is also close to the water and convenient to the bus stop. Working with Beth made our trip so much easier, she provided complete instructions and tips that helped us from the minute we got off the plane. We even e-mailed her with a couple of questions mid trip and she got right back to us. We will be back to beautiful Bermuda someday, the scenery and the kindness of the people were incomparable.
Coach House is located between Cambridge Beaches and Somerset Village. The cottage is set in a private garden and has it's own waterfront and tiny beach a short walk down Tween Walls on Mangrove Bay. The large yard and calm waters are ideal from families with children. The natural beauty of Mangrove Bay may be enjoyed from the water on sailboats, kayaks, and motor boats available at H2O sports a short walk from the Cottage. Paddle around the island and through Somerset Bridge, famous for being the smallest drawbridge in the world. Rent bicycles from the kiosk at Cambridge Beaches and take a ride on the Railroad Trail that runs the length of the island. For history buffs and shoppers, Dockyard is just a short bus ride. The beautiful beaches of the South Shore are also a short bus ride away.
