Piaggione Charme and relax Chianti holiday rental is one of those hidden jems in wine country one imagines all his life! Handed down from generations, the farmhouse has kept its simple country feel that makes you feel at ease the minute you arrive.

Surrounded by vineyards, olive trees, roses and inhabited with the owner's sculptures, the house has a very special, unique feel. The high up position on the hills of Vagliagli offers open views over the castles in Chianti classico as far as San Polo in Rosso and Mount Amiata on the other side.

The farmhouse hosts 2 independent apartments and one independent barn.

The owners are the best Siena tour guide and the most famous contemporary Siena artist. They are very passionate, creative, generous people who love comfort and beauty. They have been restoring the property for the past 5 years and are turning it into a very fine yet rustic boutique spa retreat with the charm and intimacy of a private home.

The wellness room hosts a 4 seater Jacuzzi and an infrared sauna in the panoramic loggia which is completely glassed and kept to calidarium temperatures (25-32°). A charming stone staircase leads to the fascinating Turkish steam bath downstairs, elegantly painted by the owner. The lower ground wellness area also hosts showers, bathroom and a marvellous massage room.

The large gardens and huge panoramic swimming pool ensures all guests have plenty of space to enjoy their privacy. The pool was recently newly paved and a new external hot tub was put in. It offers vertical and horizontal hydrojets as well as a waterfall. It was designed and built by Alberto himself with stone and marvellous new materials for top functionality and amazing pleasure! It is lit at night till midnight!!

The property is on a farming estate producing fabulous Chianti wine, olive oil, fruit, veggies and cured meats. You can see the animals taking a lovely walk down the track in the woods below the property. there are goats, Cinta senese pigs, phaesants, ducks as well as plenty of wildlife! The veggie garden is run on an honesty counter, so you pick, weight and leave your cash in a basket... you can do your 'shooping any time of the day and night!

The house is just 1,5 kms from the village of Vagliagli where you have shops and amenieties.

La Grande was designed to be the owners' country residence and offers very bright and spacious rooms with a breathtaking panorama over the most authentic Chianti hills. The apartment has two independent entrances and develops around the large panoramic lounge off which opens the large private terrace equipped with table, chairs and umbrellas, the large kitchen with wood oven and the dining room with fireplace. The rooms are really very large and bright. Off the lounge is a corridor leading discretely to the bedroom area hosting 2 large doubles and a twin room and 2 bathrooms, one with both bath tub and shower enclosure and one with a shower. An ancient wooden door in the lounge leads into the 60 sq metre wellness area, of which La Grande guests can have exclusive access. The wellness area can be used as late as midnight - a true LUXURY!

Vagliagli is a small, pretty hilltop village 1 km above Aiola, the famous and excellent wineries. This is the highest point in Chianti at 630 m ASL, enjoying superb views of Chianti and its Castles and of lovely breezes in the hottest months. This is the very heart of Chianti, base of Dario Castagno, author of Too much Tuscan Sun - we highly recommend reading his books before coming out to Piaggione di Serravalle.

There is a lovely restaurant in the village and a wine bar, more restaurants at 2 kms away, a pharmacy, bar are also in the village.

We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our time at this apartment. We are four female travelers from the US (38, 42, 70 & 70) that stayed in "La Grande" for six nights in April 2012. We used this as our home base for trips to Siena, Florence, and many hill towns in Tuscany.

It took us almost 22 hours to travel from various parts of the US and, upon arrival, Camila and Alberto had catered dinner for us as requested. It was an incredible feast and such a great welcome to "La Grande". We knew that we were going to love it from the start. Camila and Alberto are wonderful hosts...we would stay with them again. In fact, I'm thinking my husband and I will be back in the next year or so.

The apartment was simply wonderful. Relatively easy to get to but also isolated and peaceful. Rustic and full of character, but with all the modern conveniences you would expect. Spacious and comfortable, with an amazing view (the view was so great that, even though we went at a chillier time, we still spent every late afternoon sitting on the back porch drinking wine while wrapped in a blanket). We enjoyed our travels during the day, but we enjoyed coming back to our "home" just as much. We would heartily recommend this apartment to anyone traveling in the area.
