CROOKED LAKE LOG CABIN - LAKEFRONT (CHELSEA - ANN ARBOR AREA)

Pinckney Cabin Rental Photos and Description

This original lakefront log cabin was built in 1930 as a fishing camp. It has a private dock and a spectacular view of Crooked Lake. This lake is a beautiful 110 acre all sports lake adjacent to the Waterloo Recreation Area. The recreation area encompasses 20,000 acres, has 47 miles of hiking trails, fishing lakes, nature and equestrian trails.

The cabin is approximately 950 sq. ft., with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. It still maintains the rustic ambiance but has been updated with modern conveniences. The front bedroom has a full bed and there are 2 built in log twin beds. Ideal as a private retreat for a couple or 4 people, but is capable of sleeping 6. The log sofa in the living room can be converted to a full size futon bed.

The lake has a public boat launch and you may bring your own boat. We provide a paddle boat, canoe and a couple of kayaks for your use.

FABULOUS WEEKEND

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I planned a fishing weekend for our son's 16th birthday -- What a wonderful time we had!

We loved the charm of the cabin, the beautfiful
flowers, the chips and smores kit upon arrival, the fabulous lake, the
kayaks and paddle boat, fishing, walking the trails, and just
relaxing-enjoying each other's company. The beautiful pair of swans were
wonderful to watch each day. The lake was very quiet and being at the end
of the street made for a peaceful setting.

We had such a great time and loved the area so much that we are seriously
thinking of selling our place and moving to that area -- Doreen was a wonderful host but not overbearing.

Thank you for the great memories with our son!

NEW FAMILY TRADITION!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I got married last June, and with all the hustle and bustle we just let it slip our mind to plan a honeymoon till last minute! So the day after our wedding we decided to search around online for somewhere to go, & we found the crooked lake cabin! We loved it here, it was more than perfect for us! Doreen & Dominie are the sweetest! They left stuff for s'mores & even a bottle of wine on our table, for when we got in! Still haven't opened it yet! Plan on saving it as a 'wedding memory' but we thought it was the sweetest thing! Very clean, love that you don't have to bring barley anything! The lake was great, and we LOVE the fishing out there- we didn't even need live bait, tackle was fine! With that said, we CANNOT WAIT to come back this summer, with our nine month old, and for many summers after that! We recommend this cabin to everyone!

WONDERFUL RETREAT!

  • 5 of 5
Our family of four found the cabin on Crooked Lake to be the perfect get away, out done only by the hosts! D and D were friendly, accommodating and prepared a perfectly clean, restful place for our vacation. The lake is a dream, with a pair of swans that entertained us and fish that cooperated with the fishermen. The fire pit lakeside and a pleasant breeze through the cabin made for relaxing evenings and days. Kayaks were a great way to explore the lake and the trunk full of games were a great way to chill with our kids. Every inch of the cabin was clean, very clean which means a great deal to us when living in another person's home for a week. As for the surrounding area, we loved the town of Chelea, enjoyed a quick visit to Ann Arbor and Jackson and found wonderful placed to bike nearby. We'll be back for sure!

A WEEK AT THE COTTAGE ON CROOKED LAKE

  • 5 of 5
I enjoyed a very relaxing stay at this cottage on Crooked Lake in late October. The place has a great rustic look but has all the modern ammenities you would expect. I think the photos on this site do it justice, but it is even more attractive once you arrive.

Everything was very clean and well organized. The owners are very friendly and stopped by to make sure that everything was to my liking.

Due to the time of year I was there, overnight lows were in the low 40's. Several portable electric heaters were provided, and there's also a large, permanent electric heater built in to a wall of the main room. It was easy to keep the bedrooms, bathroom, and main room warm enough. Of course a fire was burning in the fireplace most of the time I was in the cottage. (Seasoned firewood was provided and burned very readily.)

I enjoyed walking on several of the trails in the adjoining Waterloo Recreation Area, and rode a bike trail there as well. It was a bit cold for much time on the water, but I did enjoy travelling around the perimeter of Crooked Lake in a kayak one sunny afternoon. (Two kayaks, a canoe, and two paddlewheel boats are provided.) While in the kayak, I was able to observe a group of Sandhill Cranes from perhaps 15ft away; they are majestic birds!

Neighboring Chelsea is only about five miles away and features some nice dining and shopping. If you like drama, try to make it to a performance a the Purple Rose Theater Theatre Company. The acting is excellent and the venue is a small "theatre in the round" style theatre with a capacity of 168. This provides an intimate setting, which is great for both the actors and the audience.

The balance of my time was spent simply reading by the fire or enjoying the falling leaves, crisp Fall breeze, and watching birds on the lake. The cottage provided a perfect place to unwind and put everything behind me for a while.

This time of year, the sunrise illuminates the trees along the Northwest edge of the lake. The combination of the autumn leaves and the early orange light results in a dramatic scene which greets you first thing in the morning. It's beautiful show that sets the tone of the day to come.
