Laganas:
This is the largest and liveliest resort on the island with the longest beautiful sandy beach which stretches for 8kms all the way to Kalamaki where in between the famous protected species, the Logger Head Turtles, known locally as Caretta-Caretta seek refuge at night to lay their eggs. Here in Laganas you will be spoilt for choice with restaurants to suit all palettes with traditional greek cuisine, italian, indian, chinese, english and fast food outlets. The bars also offer something for everyone. The liveliest of these are situated on 'The Strip'. Along the Road to Kalamaki is an altogether more low key affair with quieter bars, which have more of a family feel to them, nestling amid the restaurants and shops selling everything from locally produced wine, handicrafts and souvenirs to designer clothes and sportswear. There are also mini markets, car hire and travel companies
Kalamaki:
The quieter neighbour to Laganas with a similar choice of shops, bars and restaurants although more low key and family orientated. As mentioned above Kalamaki shares the same stretch of beach as Laganas. Be sure to try 'Michaelos' taverna on the road to Zante Town, always excellent food and service.
Rest of the Island:
The capital Zakynthos Town is only a short drive from the Villa. Here you will find the busy port were you can take a ferry to many places including the neighbouring island of Kefalonia. There is plenty of shops, bars and restaurants many of which are located around San Marco square, an attractive area especially in the evening.
The shipwreck at Navagio (also known as Smugglers Cove) is also worthy of a visit. It is only accessible by boat and is one of the most beautiful and dramatic places in all of Greece, photographed many times.
A round the island boat trip is highly recommended visiting the Blue Caves on the northern tip and the caves near Keri on the southern tip of the island.
