Completely renovated and newly furnished 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom 1350 sqft cottage, with a 'beach house' feel. It has expansive lake views, covered and uncovered deck areas, huge gently sloping lawn areas suitable for croquet or bocce and fenced yard for small children. There is parking for up to 3 vehicles, a boat launch on the property (rare on the lake), large dock with swimming float and moorage space, hammock, beach chairs and fire pit (campfire guidelines are set by the Coastal Fire Centre, and may not be allowed during hot, dry periods. Check advisory boards along Hwy# 18). The 100' beach/dock is shared with the property owners, when they are there (sadly, rarely).
Inside the house you will find a large, well-equipped, eat-in kitchen. It includes:
- good quality stainless pots
- all cooking utensils
- small appliances- coffee maker, blender, toaster, kettle
- dishwasher, microwave/convection oven, new BBQ on the deck
- seating for 6 inside/outside
- new lounge/deck chairs for soaking up the sun or relaxing with a book
The livingroom has comfortable seating, a take/trade paperback library, TV, DVD player, card/games table and sliding door access onto the covered deck. There are expansive lake views from this room. Bedroom #1 has 1 twin and 1 double bed, with large closets; bedroom #2 & # 3 each have 1 queen bed, a dresser and ample closet space. Each room has it's own restful, contemporary decor, and the rental includes bed and bath linens, as well as beach towels (we kindly ask that you don't take the white towels to the beach). There is a bright bathroom with large vanity and a tub/shower combo.
We are a family with two boys who have grown up on or around the water. It seems every year we collect another boat or watersport, from kayaking, sailing, rowing, waterskiing, wakeboarding and swimming and windsurfing to kiteboarding.
We fell in love with the lake after years of camping here. We had owned other cottage before, but the southern exposure makes the most of those amazing summer days.
This sheltered spot seems to have it's own microclimate- warmer & less windy than other parts of the lake. The beach has just the right mix of sunny areas for those wanting to bronze up, and shade (there's always a line-up for the shady hammock), to stay cool and enjoy the view. The house manages to stay cool, even on the warmest days, and the sunsets over the lake and mountains will leave you breathless!
The Cowichan Valley, with it's 'Gourmet Trail' is an ideal place for food and wine enthusiasts. The spectacular landscape will appeal to outdoor adventurers as well. If you are looking for watersports on crystal clear Cowichan Lake, fishing or tubing down the Cowichan River, windsurfing or kiteboarding at NitNat Lake, hiking the Carmanah Valley, touring local wineries or just soaking up the sun in the 'Warm Lands', there is something here for you!
