Guestbook comments from the manager
We’re back again for another fantastic few days here in Newport! The start of our trip was cloudy & rainy – but we were able to enjoy this cozy little place and watch the Storm through the window to the bayfront. Wine, cheese, and a fire to top off the ambiance!
The weather warmed up halfway through our trip and we were able to get down to the Sunny beach for some Frisbee throwing . Yay! We went fishing/crabbing off of the dock. This was fun and we caught a lot of crab, but no keepers. Better luck next time….
It’s still sunny on our final day here. We are sad to leave but can’t wait until the next time we are able to return! Time for a little more beach fun before heading out of town. What a fun time!!!
Oregon Shores Vacation Rentals
We love getting together with friends and family, crabbing in Yaquina Bay, and long walks on the beach. After several years of renting at the Embarcadero, we decided to buy our own condo there. In 1998 we purchased A Yaquina Sunset. Over the years we have made many wonderful trips to Newport, caught more crab than we could eat (we extend the bounty to our neighbors and friends in the valley!), and spent countless hours watching a good winter storm, enjoying the beautiful sunsets, and basking in the reflective warmth of our deck when it is too cold to linger on the beach. We love our time at the condo - swimming, crabbing/clamming, or just relaxing - and we hope that you will too.
A Yaquina Sunset gives us the opportunity to spend time at our favorite beach town, have access to a great marina where we can dock our crab boat during our stay, and have a gorgeous view from almost every window/deck in our condo. At night, the lights of the Bayfront reflect on the dark, glassy water to create a beautiful and tranquil scene that is my favorite memory of our trips to the condo. We love walking the Fisherman's Memorial Walk along the bay to the quaint shops in Historic Bayfront. Hatfield Marine Science Center, the Aquarium, South Beach shops, and Aunt Belinda's Candy are just some of the fun destinations within a short drive. If you like history and ghost stories, don't forget to stop at the lighthouse under the bridge for a bit of local folklore and a step back in time. We hope you find our home comfortable and relaxing. In the past we have rented A Yaquina Sunset independently, rented it through the Embarcadero Hotel, and now for the last several years have had it managed by Oregon Shores Vacation Rentals (OSVR). Since we live in the valley, OSVR helps us to immediately handle any problems or questions that our guests may have. We hope your visit is worry free - as they can be reached 24/7. Since we are not part of the Hotel, we do not have access to desk/maid services - but I think you will find the savings in our prices, and condo quality, are a great value. We enjoy having renters who, like us, love the Oregon coast. Check out the Recreation Building (you can see it from our deck in the lower parking lot) to access the crab docks, pool, sauna, hot tub, exercise room, and the handy crab cookers/fish cleaning station. The gas BBQ near the crab docks is a great place to view the bay activity and water up close - You may even see an optimistic sea lion looking for a snack near the crab boats. We hope you have a wonderful time here! Please leave us a comment on the VRBO website - we appreciate your feedback, and hope to see you again.
Take a stroll along the Fisherman's Memorial Walk to find shops, galleries, food, coffee, and Made in Oregon products all within walking distance. We love the view of the Yaquina Bay Bridge, fishing and recreational boats sailing by, the only private crab dock and marina on the nearby coast, and a Marine research facility across the bay. Brewers will enjoy a tour of Rogue Ale Brewery and Distillery across the bridge near the aquarium. Visit us for the annual Oyster Cloyster in November, the Sea of Lights and Christmas Lights Boat Parade in December, and the Wine & Seafood Festival in February. From our deck, you can watch an amazing Independence Day fireworks show over the bay on July 4th.
